The ease of booking my travel insurance was great, I got a competitive quote. I made a mistake with the dates, this was amended straight away by using chat at no extra cost. I thought that was great and I will certainly use them again.

Don't pay out on claims
Prices are competitive but when you make a claim they make you jump through hoops before eventually telling you they won't pay out. I had a tour operator cancel a trip and only partially refund me, and despite my policy saying that they pay out up to £1,250 for Trip Disruption Before You Travel, Collins (on behalf of Alpha) told me I wasn't covered for that and they wouldn't pay out for trip and flight losses

I don't often write reviews but unfortunately, during my last snowboarding holiday the worst happened. My accident, a dislocated shoulder and not my fault, necessitated a helicopter lift. Alpha Travel Insurance dealt with everything, no questions asked. The recovery takes many painful months and I was very grateful that Alpha took care of the financial side. Just be assiduous in studying insurance policy details and purchase the insurance that is right for you. From reading other reviews, too many just don't!

Avoid - £750 to extend travel insurance for 2 weeks
This company is unbelievable, I cannot believe it can legally function like this. I have a longstay backpacker policy for my family which I purchased for around £450 for 3 months cover. I phoned up to extend for another 3 months midway through the policy and it was another £400ish, all looking ok. We decided to extend the trip for 2 more weeks, so I call up to add 2 more weeks on and now it's an additional £750 for 2 weeks insurance?! Disgraceful. The offshore call centre is terrible, I would totally avoid this company, clearly the insurance underwriter is a complete scam and the call centre staff can barely speak English and just cannot help. I am appalled.

We ( Joint Couple) used Alpha for more…
We ( Joint Couple) used Alpha for more than 7 years and the premiums were fair for our conditions. However this year the premioum was very high. Given our history (no claims ever) and loyalty we were disappointed. We searched other insurers online and found a significantly better deal. A shame to leave but the price difference was too large to ignore. Thank you for the past but the future is elsewhere

Luckily I didn’t need to make a claim on my holiday insurance but the way it was handled on purchase which was great, I am sure I wouldnt have any problems if I had. I will use Alpha travel insurance again.
