60% account loss, false historical claims, website abandoned — avoid Richard Metzger

I signed up with AlgorithmicTrading.net and paid a significant signup fee for their algorithmic trading service run by Richard Metzger. The results were consistently poor throughout 2025 — a pattern of small occasional gains followed by larger losses. The majority of months were losing months, with only 2–3 very small positive months across the year. The net result was a loss of approximately 60% of my account, on top of the expensive signup fee. None of this matched the historical performance claims made when selling the service.

Now the website is completely down and Richard Metzger has gone silent — no responses to emails. Their sales representative Rich is also not answering phone calls. Notably, if you have active strategies running and haven't manually turned them off, they appear to still be executing. This seems intentional: by leaving losing strategies running rather than cutting access, he may be attempting to avoid liability for canceling services customers paid for — even as those strategies continue to erode accounts.

This is a troubling pattern. Sell a service with inflated historical performance claims, deliver consistently losing strategies, go dark when things fall apart, and let the damage continue in the background.

I would strongly caution against trusting any venture that Richard Metzger is involved in. The combination of misleading performance claims, poor real-world results, and what appears to be deliberate abandonment of paying customers says everything you need to know.

SIMPLY STAY AWAY FROM THIS "COMPANY"

I am giving 1 star just because I can't select Zero star and it would even go to Minus, as far as I am concerned.
The website shows things that whoever runs this company, a certain Mr Richard, is obviously not able to achieve.
I would take every single piece of information or data you read in that website with extreme caution. The actual results prove exactly the opposite, to be more clear, in a matter of less than a month his trading algos lost 5000usd, only 1 or 2 trades closed positively. This is not being professional. Trading carries its intrinsic risks, but the results are very far from what a professional could achieve in any market scenario.
This Richard is not the trader or business person he claims to be. Just stay away from whatever company, trading programe or anything that involves this person.

Almost one year in - NOTHING BUT LOSSES

Almost one year in, I've never had a positive month. Support is dismal and goes away once you sign up. Real results NOTHING like advertised results. Stay away - don't lose your capital with Richard. Asked for a refund of licensing fee, he said "he'd try" and has ignored me since.

Just not worth the investment in time, emotion and $$

My experience has been much like others have described in steady losses except that Richard DID sell me the Alpha algo and said he couldn't discount the $20K price because his partner had written it and most of the money would go to him. I asked for a refund since my losses increased dramatically after changing to it but my emails were never answered.

2024 Smart Pivot losses

Before investing in AlgorithmicTradingLLC I tried to do a lot of research, digging, and finding reviews etcetera. Most of them were pretty positive and people spoke highly of the owner, Richard. However, there were a few reviews warning that they had lost a lot of money in that it was just a scam. Unfortunately, I did not heed those reviews. After losing 40% in 2024 I have finally stopped trading the smart pivot algorithm.
Around June I started calling and emailing about once a month because the account was having 5% plus losses per month. The first few months the owner said the algo was within back testing limits, then for a few months he said he was making small tweaks, and he was confident it would turn around. Somewhere around September I called the 800 number on the website which was disconnected. He gave me a new 800 number which a month later was disconnected. He did reply to my most recent December email and in earnest was empathic to the performance.
I switched from his Geronimo algo in 2023 when it was underperforming and started the new smart pivot which was going to be better. And now his partner has a new algo called alpha which is going to be better.
This seems to be a reoccurring theme and I'm guessing that perhaps the algorithms work for a short time and then fail so he starts up a new one so he can sell more licenses. This pretty much seems like a scam to me, like his swindling people out of their money with false pretenses of his abilities. The owner comes across as a genuinely good person trying to make the best algo's to help clients make money, and he absolutely denies there is a different plan.
Either he is not good at writing these algos and is selling licenses to a product that is not going to work, or worse, he wrote the algo and is aware of how the algo is trading and is trading in the opposite direction taking the money from the people that he sold licenses to, which again he unequivocally denies.
There are other companies out there with better algorithms, although I have not found one that performs really well during these up markets.

Be Okay with Huge Drawdowns

I signed up in August. I had 3 weeks of solid losses (one winner) and my account went down by 26% when I shut down trading. Communication with the company was difficult. My rep had left and no one returned calls. I asked for a refund and after some back and forth I did recieve it. Their website says no refunds but they will do a 90 day refund.

Trader Beware!!

Here is an updated review and warning for potential investors/traders: Before purchasing any algo from this developer, you must ask to see the monthly returns for this year. They use to display each month’s return, but recently took down the graphic. The current performance of the algos is not what they are claiming. I recently learned that Trader + algo had 2 winning trades in over 3 months this year.

I purchased the Trader + algo on July 31, 2024. As of October 7th there was only 1 winning trade. My account has been in a permanent draw-down from the day I purchased it. Currently I'm down 32%. Only 1 winning trade in over 2 months!! The company's website doesn't show the performance of the algos since April, 2024. I advise anyone who is considering buying into either of the algos to have the developer reveal the algo's performance up to the current date. I voiced my concern to the owners on several occasions, and I was told 3 times that they are "making some adjustments." This means the system is not working. As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it.." This has been a total loss for me -- over $13,000 loss in just 2 months.

It's worth repeating: 1 winning trade in over two months. Before you buy any of their algos, ask to see the trading results up to the current date. My account is down over 32%. If the system was logging a fair number of winning trades, I would have stayed in it. But, I had to cut my losses.

Only a week in

Just started with Richard, started with 100k….1st trade hit for 9k win….2nd/3rd lost about 3k total….so week 1 up about 6k so far….

We will see, historically they return 6.xx% monthly we will see….little skeptical after reading about some of these stagnated accounts….

Up 43% since I started

I’ve been with algorithmictrading.net for just about five months and I am up 43%. The market has been up in this time and there has been some fluctuation but it’s been just as explained when I signed up. In the beginning I did see things go down but even the initial losses were as described. There can be ups and downs but they even out in the long run. I’m excited to see the long term performance.

Was waiting to do a review until I had used it for some time. As of now, my experience has been very positive. The algorithms have a very high win rate and tend to be more accurate than not. So far they have performed as advertised!

Started trading about three months ago

Started trading about three months ago. I could not be more pleased. There are losing trades for sure, but the winners hit and make up for the losses super quick. This is not a get rich quick thing, but I am glad i stuck with it. I started with $50k and my account has around $62k as of now. So about 20% in three months. Not too shabby.

Dont expect miracles

on feb 20, invested 50K and within 5 days saw a profit of $6000. However as of June 1st, there was $49,990 in the account. I can do better on my own. The ups and downs were crazy. Withdrew the money, Still have the license, withdrawing was easy. So I had basically 0 gains or losses in 3+ months. I can make 10% on my money myself..
