AL Bank doesn't want new customers
Arbejdernes Landsbank is arguably the worst bank imaginable. Their account opening process treats potential clients like fraudsters, demanding past transaction histories and explanations for legitimate transactions processed by other banks. They drag the process out for 1.5 months, only to reject the application without clear reasons, possibly discriminating based on spoken language—using English instead of Danish—since no explanation was provided for denying a Mastercard Gold.

Avoid this bank if you're foreigner
I've been customer to vestjysk bank from 2007 to 2012 and I had bad experiences with them in two different cities.
You can clearly see they don't like foreigners and they make you feel unwelcomed.

We are very annoyed with this bank
We are very annoyed with this bank. During our summer vacation my husbands card was swollen by ATM. So we had to share mine the whole time. Then a week later I tried paying for groceries at Coop and my card was declined (of course I had money on my account). This happened several times during this year and we are considering changing to another bank.
Update after the answer: I did try to insert the card, used my pin code that was correct - it still got rejected.

Stupid Rules
I’m on resident permit in Denmark, and my resident permit will be expired next month whilst I already applied for extension, it takes up to 7 months from the expiration date of my current permit to receive the new resident card but they don’t want to understand that despite that’s NOT IN MY POWER! They THREATENED ME to close my bank account even tho I use my bank account to pay tax and receiving salary.
There must be better options
I am their customer for 11 years, used 2 loans from them and paid by the day. After getting a job in another EU country, I needed a small loan from them for moving expenses, which they dismissed.
They also suspended my account twice for not declaring a document about how much money I plan to spend for the upcoming year. During one of these suspensions I was on holiday abroad, using the account for all expenses.
They keep asking this document every year even though I am a salaried white collar, making me feel like I am doing some sort of shady business?
Being their customer for a long time, and having my salary paid to that account for 6 years, I was never ever offered anything remotely useful for being their customer. Not a credit card, no advantage. Nothing at all whatsoever. Waste of time.

We moved to Sydbank in connection to buying our first property and the main reason was a great connection with our advisor, Lasse! Like others have said, they're irresponsive, don't count on them getting back to you. Waited more than 2 weeks for ansver on a house loan, called them 3 times where the advisor got a message and 48 hours to respond. Nothing.

Probably the worst bank I ever had
Probably the worst bank I ever had. They not only call my private number that I never shared to my bank, and asked what am I spending MY OWN MONEY when I buy on the internet, but recently they sent me some kind of website where I had to fill in what I am buying, how many bank accounts do I have how do I use them, and why I am using real cash and what I buy with it. A bank did that to me. Time to moove away. I hope they go bankrupt and without pay. This bank is breaking the law and does not protect its custommers and invading them instead. My money NOT YOURS! Bye Sydbank!
Three months ago
Three months ago , I sent money to an overseas account using my SYDBank account. There was an issue with the receiving account and the England account was blocked. I have now followed up with different regulatory and monetary board since October 2nd , 2024 . I have been able to communicate this with my Bank representative and they won't assist in retrieving the available balance with the England Bank, even after providing the email threads between the Banks and the monetary board.
The England online Banking has now requested that I provide an Indemnity form for them to return the available balance with them and till date SydBank officials has not responded to my request. I have over 24K hanging out there and I need a follow up in no time . All I need is an Indemnity form , if my Bank won't assist me . I can assist myself !

If I could give them less than a 1 star review I definitely would.
Where do I start? Since moving to Denmark 7 years ago, I have been a loyal customer of Arbejdernes Landsbank- literally only because they offered me a free lønkonto and the waiting time was less than 6 weeks like the other banks quoted me. I've had a number of eyebrow raising experiences (like being unable to speak to a bank rådgiver during business hours, but them deciding it is ok to contact me on a sunday, as if that's a normal time to conduct business with the bank), but this last one really sealed the deal.
My partner and I are in the process of purchasing a property, as after a combinned 21 years of living here in Denmark we've just had enough of the rental market as foreigners. We have had meetings with several banks before this morning's with Arbejdernes Landsbank, all of which have been conducted professionally and with an outcome (and reasoning for the outcome) that actually make sense. The legal minimum for a downpayment is of course 5%, but seemingly unless your name is Mads Mikkelsen you're looking at a couple percentage points higher, FAIR ENOUGH! We have concrete offers from 2 banks where they only want a minimum of between 6.5% & 8%, depending on the final property we apply to borrow for. In these cases, the banks have said things like "it's your first property purchase, so we need to see a history of you being able to meet repayments", again, FAIR CALL!!
Now, I went into this meeting with Arbejdernes Landsbank expecting some wishy washy reasoning behind them needing anything up to about 10%; "you know, the market, its hard!", but our rådgiver, Julie, spat it out plain and simple in our faces "because you're foreigners". She admitted the rules were the same for everyone, but in her's and the bank's eyes, we didn't deserve a fair go, because we are udlændinge :/
So there you go, join the workers movement bank because you're a left leaning person like the rest of us, but remember you'll be treated like you're just a little bit less than a Dane when dealing with this bank.
