Nice Hotel, but with Issues
Came here for a two week break. The Hotel is classed as a 5 Star resort, clearly it isn't. It is a 3 star plus at best. We made the decision to upgrade to the Adults only part of the resort with a shared pool outside our room. Upon arrival the pool was filthy and could not be used. They sorted this out quite quickly. Fridge was too big for the cupboard it was housed in and my wife kept catching her leg on it, Manager said it would be changed, however the remedy was to remove the cupboard door and leave it to one side in the room. Our mini bar was to be restocked each day, this didn't happen for the first four days until I queried it.
In the Adults only part of the resort you have their own restaurant, bar and own Adults only part of the beach, which have orange wrist bands. When we arrived we were informed that we can use all of the resort, but those that were in the Family side of the resort with clear bands were not allowed into the Adults section of the resort, which we paid an extra premium for the privilege. However this didnt happen as lots of adults from the family side with clear bands were coming over to the Adults side and using our restaurant and bar which started to cause queues. We even seen under age people in the adults only part getting drinks at the bar when they should not have even been there in the first place. Taking into account the cost of this holiday which is charged at a 5 star rate, and then add on the taxes of 210 euro did I find it value for money, NO. Could have paid less on the family side and then just used the adults only section. I just cannot see why they have two different colour bands if those with clear bands are just allowed to wander into the Adults side when they sick of the noise of the kids and animation team antics.
Food is fine, sometimes not as hot as we would have liked but plenty of choice. The drinks menu is quite good, but the long queues is an issue on an evening. They have entertainment on every night, however this is repeated on the second week, so a bit tiring. I am only reviewing the Adults side as we didn't use the family part of the resort, too noisy for us. They do provide a free shuttle bus into Kardemeina at regular times of the day which is good.
Special mentions for staff that I believe are doing their best to make your holiday the best it can be are;
Sylvia- Bar Manager, what a great woman, so friendly and helpful.
Albi- Nighttime Barman, for a new employee he did his best and was very polite and friendly.
Adrianna- Daytime bar, always welcomes you, very friendly and polite.
George- Glass collector/Waiter. A new lad but made us laugh. A nice lad that will go far, works hard.
Katerina- Restaurant, very helpful and pleasant, always has a welcoming smile for you.
Cannot say anything wrong about the Hotel staff, whether it is maids, gardeners or maintenance, they are all polite and greet you when they see you.
Would we return to this Hotel, no due to the issues. Hotels should be ready for the guests arriving and not sorting out issues when they arrive and complain. We have been on genuine 5 star Holidays and this isn't one of them.
