My marketing team pulls its own numbers now

Every Monday meeting used to start with someone guessing a number or saying the export was still running. The data existed, it just lived behind one person who was always busy.

Now anyone on the team asks a question in normal words and sees the real figure in seconds. The guessing stopped inside a fortnight, and the meetings are shorter because we are arguing about the work rather than the numbers.

We are a D2C brand and the questions are simple: which campaign drove repeat orders, which discount code cannibalised margin. It answers both without a data team in the loop.

Read-only by default meant our dev lead approved it the same afternoon. Support answered a question about scheduling a report in under two hours on a weekday.

Connected our Postgres in three minutes and built the revenue view

I was nervous about pointing an AI tool at our production database. The read-only default settled it, and the connection itself took about three minutes including the permission step.

By the time my coffee was cold I had a weekly revenue dashboard that our ops lead now opens every morning. It used to be a manual export on Monday and a spreadsheet that was stale by Wednesday.

We are a D2C skincare brand, so the questions are things like which SKUs are profitable after returns and which cohorts repeat. It handles both without me writing a join.

One caveat worth knowing: it is only as good as your schema names. Our older tables are abbreviated and it guessed wrong twice until I renamed the columns. Ten minutes of tidying and it has been accurate since.

Four months in, support answered a permissions question in about an hour.

The dashboards survive even when the credits do not

Our last analytics tool locked the entire screen the second we hit the monthly limit. Not just new queries, everything. Charts, saved reports, the lot. Twice it happened on a Friday.

Here the AI prompts pause when the balance hits zero and every live dashboard and scheduled report keeps running. We ran out on a Friday in September, our board pack refreshed as normal over the weekend, and I topped up on Monday.

That is a small design decision that tells you a lot about how the product was built. Credits also do not expire, which after the last vendor is a relief.

We are an insurance broker and the dashboards are how the whole commercial team starts the day. Support is 24/7 with a 12 hour cap and answered a question about routing through Claude in under two hours.

I do not know SQL and now I do not need to

I run revenue ops at a lender and for two years every number I needed went through our data team. A request, a two-day wait, and usually a follow-up because I had asked for the wrong thing.

Now I type the question in plain English and get the chart in about fifteen seconds. Last month I built the whole weekly cohort view myself before my coffee went cold, and the data team has stopped getting tickets from me entirely.

What convinced me it was safe was that the connection is read-only by default. Nobody can break production by asking a stupid question, which was my real fear.

The credit model is fair too. When we burned through our pack during board prep, every existing dashboard kept refreshing normally and I just ran the extra queries through Claude until we topped up. Nothing went dark on the morning of the meeting. Six months in and it has changed what my week looks like.
