Books a beachside hotel for 5 nights…

Books a beachside hotel for 5 nights and paid upfront for the most expensive room with full ocean views. Arrived at the hotel today, lower spec room with very different outlook, and reception said it happens all the time with Agoda. Contacted Agoda (do that by phone because their robot AI is shocking) and eventually was offered an embarrassingly small financial credit (although I just wanted the room I booked), and the “credit” is Agoda dollars so it has to be spent with Agoda!! This has to be illegal! Never ever use them!!!!
This was my last email to them:

Thank you for the reply

To be clear, this offer was made to me whilst searching on Trivago, and Agoda was the vendor providing the deal. Hence the site (when selected) went strain to Agoda. I’m sure Trivago would be extremely disappointed to find that according to this hotel, Agoda has had several incorrect bookings for their clients where the clients were significantly disappointed. It appears that Agoda is quite comfortable with this practice continuing.

Now to the “offer” Agoda has made attached.

Firstly, this “Agoda cash” refund amount does not in any way represent the cost difference between the Anchorage room I booked with Agoda and the unsatisfactory room the Hotel received as a booked through Agoda.

Moreover, I would have never made the booking with Agoda if I knew this room was misrepresented and sold to me as a fraud, and I only booked this particular room due to the full ocean view, clearly that has failed to occur due specifically to Agoda’s failure in its operations.

Finally, if I was to receive an “adequate” refund , which this isn’t, then I demand a proper refund for the full differential between the two rooms in high season (which it currently is) and on to the same financial mechanism with which I made the booking.

Quite frankly, this extremely poor experience coupled with the offensive offer made, which incredibly, requires me to spend even more money with Agoda is illegal and I will now raise this with both, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Trivago as well as PayPal.

I find Agoda’s operational performance for this service and also response a disgrace.

Wow ..It seems Agoda have many bad reviews. Its made me suspicious that my hotel booking may not be genuine in Thailand. I tried contacting the hotel direct with no reply from email & similar from phone calls. I then contacted Agoda direct in London. Within 10 minutes they contacted me by email stating they had spoke with the manager & confirmed my booking. Also they provided a different phone no to call the hotel direct .I dont feel the need to do so now. My experience was that they were prompt & efficient

Agoda cannot be trusted as they are…

Agoda cannot be trusted as they are dishonest and unethical when it comes to their Free Cancellation Policy which they do not honor. Always keep screen shots of their cancellation policy if and when you do make a booking as proof because they will change it whenever it fits them ie when it’s advantageous to them to dishonestly “steal” your money.
They state that you have until a period to cancel but when you cancel before the expiry of the Free Cancellation period, they will say that you booked a non refundable booking and will refuse to refund you and will say that you are not entitled to any refund and push the blame to the hotel citing that you have booked under a non refundable booking.
BEWARE OF HOW YOU DEAL WITH AGODA!!

Used an unknown email adress!

We were looking for a hotel in Boracay for our Christmas vacation and we had tried to book a room for 3 days. We have cellphone connection problems sometimes in our house, and might have tried to book at Stay Inn but since we got no email confirmation, I booked at another hotel through Booking.com and everything when fine. We are in our room in the evening when my wife gets a text message from an unknown number asking her when we are expected to check-in. We check our bank account and PHP8700 had been withdrawn. I call the number and ask what this was about and JP - the owner of the hotel asks me when we were going to check-in, I told him that we were in another hotel. Apparently we had booked a room for three days and payed for it, the email adress was not my wife’s our mine, an email completely unknown to us. How can we know that we had booked, or able to cancel a booking when all of the emails are send to an email adress that is not one of ours? The owner of Stay Inn is going to contact Agods and ask how all of this has happened. Agoda doesn’t ask for email confirmation nor send text messages to confirm a booking? What kind of a business are you running?
Be very careful searching and booking in this site!

Warning: misleading cancellation handling

I booked a hotel through this company on the 2nd and submitted a cancellation request shortly after. I received an email stating they would contact the hotel to process the request. Three days later, I was emailed that the cancellation was denied.

However, when I logged into my account, the status contradicted those emails. The portal showed the request was submitted on the 3rd and later expired because the hotel was never contacted. In other words, I was told the hotel denied the request, while the system showed no outreach was ever made.

I provided screenshots showing this discrepancy to customer support. Instead of addressing it, they dismissed the issue, later changed the request status, and continued to deny responsibility. Kept stating it's non-refundable but that's not entirely true. Only after I pressed did they offer to call the hotel — well after the refund window had passed.

I documented everything and am still disputing the charge. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others against using third-party booking sites if you expect transparent or reliable cancellation handling.

Agodo - DO NOT USE

We were searching for a booking for December 11th to December 14th!! We never requested to book the dates they booked us and they refused to fix the error so we were left with a booking that we did not have time off from work approved for! Their website automatically changed the dates!! Do not use this company! Customer service is TERRIBLE and the company only wants your money then they could care less!

DONT BOOK WITH THESE!!

Would give no stars if there was a choice. DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE! Booked my stay with an apartment to then receive an email two hours ago before saying that it had been cancelled. I had called Aldgate apartments and they had said they couldn’t find my booking. I then got another email at 3 pm (check in time) to say that it had been confirmed.

Trying to receive a refund as the money had left my account is impossible. They take you around in circles. Pretend to ring the apartment where you’re staying and don’t actually call them! Have you on the phone for an hour to say no refund!!

Worst place ever!!

If they had 0 stars i would select that!
Very disappointing experience today on Agoda. The deal showed 220AUD but every time i selected it and went to book it, suddenly the deal became unavailable and "someone else" booked it. I go back to the original page and the same deal appears. But it actually isn't available. this is extremely annoying. Clearly the whole point of this website is to draw you in and try to get you to book even though the prices are not accurate. DO NOT USE

I'm accusing Agoda

After paying for the flight ticket on June 30, the ticket canceled on the same day is still not refunded. As a result of contacting and confirming with the Korean Air, I confirmed that my flight ticket was a high class and there was no penalty, and the airline immediately refunded it.
When on earth will Agoda give me back?
Agoda, a fraud who makes consumers angry like this, will have to go out of business even through a boycott. I will inform and promote this fact in a different way

Unacceptable Experience – No Refund Despite Clear Agreement

We had an extremely disappointing experience both with the hotel and with Agoda. The noise levels at the hotel were unbearable - you could literally hear everything from the street and the neighbors, making it impossible to sleep.
Because of this, we decided to leave the hotel early.

The hotel agreed to let us check out and promised a refund for the remaining 3 nights. Agoda confirmed the same. Before we left, the hotel made it clear to us that they had informed the third party Agoda used for the booking that we should receive our refund.

However, we never got our money back. Agoda now claims that the hotel never accepted the refund, which is directly the opposite of what we were told by the hotel. In other words, either the hotel or Agoda is not telling the truth, and we are left without the money we are rightfully owed.

This experience is completely unacceptable, and I am deeply dissatisfied with how both Agoda and the hotel handled the situation. It shows a total lack of accountability and respect for customers.

I have been a loyal Agoda customer for a long time, but I won’t be using them again in the future.

I had a terrible experience with Agoda

I had a terrible experience with Agoda. Their advertisement and booking page clearly stated that the hotel reservation could be cancelled for free before August 27. Trusting this, I made the booking.

However, when I tried to cancel within the stated period, the system refused to allow free cancellation and attempted to charge me instead. This is completely misleading and feels like a deliberate trick to lure customers into booking.

Such dishonest practices not only waste customers’ time but also cause financial loss and stress. Transparency and trust are the most basic requirements for a booking platform, and Agoda has failed both.

Based on my experience, I strongly advise everyone not using Agoda to make the bookings

Fraudulent activity

Booked an apartment room for a weekend and never received booking confirmation. I called their hard-as to reach phone number multiple attempts and emailed their customer support to resolve the situation to no avail. Even with the bank charge, dates, name, email and phone number they weren’t able to pull anything from their data bases. Now stuck in a silly chargeback cycle, awaiting a response. I disputed their charge, now they are charging me back because I ‘never reached out to them’ or ‘gave their team time to resolve the issue’. A load of shit.

Agado allow you to book rooms already full and left us out of pocket and with nowhere to stay. 30 days later I’m still waiting for my refund

First of all I booked a room for 1 night through LateRooms.com and I was forwarded to a suitable room through Agado and paid a reasonable price of £68. When we arrived at the hotel we were told that there was no free room for us and that we should not have been able to book the room. The owner of the hotel was very helpful and said he would gladly approve us a refund. After calling Agado we were told we would receive a refund within 30 days. This hasn’t happened yet. We were left out of pocket and were unable to make any other reservations due to the fact that our money was not refunded, and still hasn’t been. Latearooms.com should vet their clients better and have a better support team for situations like this
