Auto renewal scam

Auto renew was on my membership without my knowledge and I was charged. I asked for a refund on the membership I have not used but never got a reply. Under the consumer rights act everyone has 14 days to return something unused.

Account Banned and no reason why, days after i signed up for their Pro account

I really wanted to like and trust this site as i take my photography seriously. I upload photos during the 14 days trial, summitted a few for license consideration and paid for the PRO account. I'm still waiting to hear why my account was banned with just having still life, flowers and a few birds photos. And just days after i paid!!!!!!! So they have my photos and my money without me having any benefit or way to resolve whatever is the issue. If i don't hear more from them soon i guess i can just chalk it up to them stealing from me. Very very shady to ban soon after i have paid.

Over the limit of uploading?

It's happened three times this month that 500px sent the message and stopped me to upload my photos under the excuse of over the limit of uploading while I actually have more than one upload is allowed. They urge me to upgrade to their premium membership, which I don't want to, I think the salesperspn of the website just keeps lying.

Good-bye!

Good-bye!

I’ve already deleted all my photos. After I send this email…I’m deleting my account.

Yes…in April my auto renewal posted for a year. But I hate your site so much…I’m not dealing with it a day longer. Keep the money.

Customer support: Horrible. Reply was always…”No, maybe in future update.” You refused to turn off LIKES. My photos didn’t need to be rated or approved by ass kissers.

Interface: Sucked. Too many steps/questions to upload a photo.

When I logged into my account: Another stupid idea…Captchas!! I had to click on fire hydrants…next…bikes…next…buses…next…and on and on. Complete crap. Come into 2024…and send text to my phone.

Pricing: over priced for what I received. I’m on PIXPA now for WAY less…and it’s MY WEBSITE. I don’t need to see your crappy interface and agree to you stupid policies.

Stupid "Like" Ratings: This site had too may ass kissers. They would LOVE the most hideous photos so that the poor sucker would go to their site and LOVE their crappy photo.

AI: I was seeing too much AI images.

The FINAL straw was when I provided my URL to my friends to view my photos…500px dummies forced them to log into FACEBOOK…or GOOGLE (or some other social site) in order to continue to look at my photos.

I could go on…but I’ve already wasted enough of my time. So…Good-bye you Communist Chinese DBs!

This VPN ban is stupid

This VPN blocking is stupid.
I'm from Iran. 500px is blocked in Iran because of heavy internet censorship. So I need a VPN to access 500px. But I can't because 500px blocks VPNs. I can't even access my own photos.
Their response is whitelisting your static IP which is practically useless, since the VPN connection that works now, might be useless the next day.
And when you explain this to them they just stopped responding.
One more thing. There's no reliable way to determine if an IP is from a VPN.

Thought I would try them out, Bad Idea

Thought I would try them out as a Free subscriber on 4th February 2024. Uploaded the amount of images allowed for a week. 10 days have passed and my images have not been reviewed for licencing. Not really tempting me to go for a paid subscription. Contacted support and no reply.

Unfulfilled Expectations: My Frustrating Experience with 500px App's Subscription Service

For photography enthusiasts like myself, access to a vast array of high-quality images and a supportive community of fellow creatives is invaluable. Seeking to enhance my photography journey, I decided to invest in a subscription to the renowned 500px app. However, what followed was a disheartening saga of unmet promises, unanswered support requests, and a lack of the upgraded service I paid for.

The allure of 500px's platform, touted for its stunning photography collections and promising features, prompted me to subscribe to their premium service. Eagerly anticipating an enhanced user experience, I completed the subscription process with high hopes of accessing exclusive content, advanced tools, and an ad-free environment. Regrettably, the reality fell short of expectations.

After confirming my subscription and making the payment, the upgraded features I eagerly anticipated failed to materialize. Disheartened but hopeful, I attempted to reach out to their support team, believing that a resolution to this issue was just an email away. Unfortunately, my multiple support requests were met with deafening silence. Days turned into weeks, yet no response or acknowledgment of my concerns arrived from the 500px support team.

This lack of responsiveness not only left me without the promised upgraded features but also raised concerns about the app's commitment to customer satisfaction. The frustration of investing in a service and not receiving its benefits, coupled with the absence of any support from the company, left me feeling utterly disillusioned.

Subscriptions are more than just financial transactions; they represent a trust between a user and a service provider. In this case, the breach of trust by 500px has not only impacted my experience but has also highlighted the importance of reliable customer support and delivering on promised services.

I'm not alone in facing these issues. A quick search online reveals a multitude of similar complaints from users who have faced similar challenges with the 500px app's subscription service. It raises concerns about the company's approach to user satisfaction and the effectiveness of their support infrastructure.

In an era where customer service and user experience define a company's reputation, the unresponsiveness and failure to deliver on their promises have significantly tarnished my perception of 500px. As an enthusiastic photographer seeking a supportive community and premium features, this experience has been deeply disappointing.

In conclusion, my journey with the 500px app's subscription service has been marred by unfulfilled promises and unanswered support requests. As a consumer, the lack of transparency, support, and the failure to deliver the upgraded features I paid for has left me disenchanted. It serves as a reminder of the significance of trust, accountability, and customer-centricity in fostering lasting relationships between users and service providers.

Gone downhill over the last few years...

This has really gone downhill over the last few years…what a shame. It now seems to be run by AI, so you can no longer bypass the popular shots and look at the upcoming or fresh. Also - it has become full of soft and quite often, hard porn. This is not what a photography site should be about - why should I have to report so many post for being obscene? Clean up your act!

Odd company

Odd company, unresponsive to requests from their paying customers. Your 500px profile can be used to show prospective clients your work, as a showcase page but other than that it's useless. More established sales companies like Alamy are far better if you want to sell images in my opinion. 500px seem to offer a catch 22 situation - you get more 'likes' if you sell on their site but more limited 'likes' if you choose not to sign up so making your image less saleable. Weird. How do I know? I remember the days when the 'likes' weren't manipulated and much more plentiful. Will stick to Alamy for sales.

Broken Site/Platform With Zero Support

I used 500px for 3 months until November, 2023. During that time i connected with many talented photographers and curated a gallery of favorite images by them.

Problem was, galleries are broken most days of the week. It takes up to half a dozen attempts to add a single photo to a gallery, then galleries disappear and reappear randomly.

Photos that are a certain aspect ratio appear distorted on the web. People uploading images they crop in certain ways from mobile devices don't know that, so a ton of content online looks horrible. It's not exactly something you expect or want to see when posting images on a site that promotes itself as being a professionally oriented platform for photography.

500px used to have their own support forum. They moved it to a Reddit community they created, where they never respond to a single comment or user, literally. Not a single response from 500px ever on their own support forum their 'Support' link directs to from their own site.

Profile links to your social media or external portfolio are often not there, sometimes they reappear for an hour or two, then if you refresh the page they are gone again. People are paying for this site, some use it for free... but it's a bad look for a site expecting anyone to take it seriously.

There are a lot of very talented photographers there, and that is the only good part about the platform in the year 2023. Those who submit photos to licensing either never sell anything, or according to the support forum, aren't getting paid by 500px. So it's useless for selling content commercially.

I paid to use it for 3 months and in the end left frustrated and feeling ashamed i bothered paying for that level of lack of service, care or support on a platform for my photography. I genuinely felt bad directing people to see my work there.

I'm now happily using SmugMug which is great and works well, 500px and my experience there was positive in that way, it led me to finally utilize another platform where photography shines. That and the talented photographers who haven't left 500px yet (which many are) are the only positive things i can say about the entire experience.

The customer support is zero

I am a photographer and have used the website for a few months. I have a free version. I submitted a picture for licensing (with model release) and got their response that the image needs changes. It was said that it required more proof that I initially took the picture. IT IS PICTURE OF ME TAKEN BY ME. The support service sucks. They never reply. The interface and structure of the website are poor and, in general, are no fun. I guess this platform is nothing about creation but only about making money. That’s it.

I've enjoyed 500px for a number of years as a photographer but back in April I sold a photo through the site but my commission was zero, nothing, so 500px got money and I got nothing, I wasn't expecting much but zero makes me wonder if there is a mistake so I raised a support request who have several times told me they are looking into it and here I am mid August with no update so I am concerned that finances are not being handled in an honest fashion.

Blocked without reason

I was a legitimate user for a long time and one day out of nowhere my IP address was blocked - I could no longer access website. Wrote to support with detailed explanation and received the following response: my IP was categorized as VPN, they are unable to whitelist it and told me I can use their website from a different location. I understand tech issues with automatic bans put erroneously on users - this can happen everywhere. But what they wrote as a "solution" is simply ridiculous.

(Update: This is NOT Andre Landzaat and this just proves to me there is a serious issue with my phone) I was involved in their data breach a while back and my gmail has been compromised ever since. Now the Play Store tells me it is still installed on my smartphone, yet it doesn't appear in my apps or anywhere else. How can I uninstall it??? Quite worrisome! Actual date unknown, but during late 2010's.
