I had a very bad experience that still has not been dealt with so am going public. I even emailed the operations Manager (hassan) The engineer was at my property for less than five minutes. During the visit, he came downstairs and informed me that he was going to obtain a part and would return later that day. Based on this information, we remained at home for the rest of the evening awaiting his return. However, the engineer never returned, nor did anyone contact me to explain why.
Following this, I made multiple calls to your customer service team seeking an update. Each time, I was advised that someone would check with the engineer and come back to me. Despite this, I received no meaningful update.
I was then sent an email today 17/08/2026 containing what was described as the engineer’s report, which stated:
“The toilet is leaking from the soil pipe fitting… the toilet is bolted in and silicon around lino…”
I have serious concerns about the accuracy and honesty of this report. - No photos attached / wouldn't say this is a report.
Firstly, I was never informed by the engineer during his visit that he had diagnosed the issue as a soil pipe fitting. In fact, I was specifically told that he would return with a part, indicating that further work was expected to take place.
Secondly, I have not been provided with any photographs or evidence supporting the engineer’s findings. The email I eventually received only contained a few lines of text and cannot reasonably be considered a full engineer’s report. I only received this email after repeatedly chasing your customer service team for information. I therefore formally request a copy of the engineer’s complete report, including all attendance notes, findings, photographs, and any other evidence relied upon in reaching the decision to decline my claim.
Thirdly, the report states that there is silicone around the toilet. To the best of my knowledge, this is incorrect. This raises further concerns about whether the engineer properly inspected the issue at all, particularly given that he spent less than five minutes at the property. If photographs exist which support this statement, I expect these to be provided as part of your investigation.
I am also concerned by your decision to reject the claim on the basis that the issue relates to a “soil pipe.” Your terms and conditions refer to “soil vent pipes,” which I understand to be a different item. I request a full explanation of the contractual basis upon which you have concluded that this issue falls outside of cover, including the specific policy wording relied upon.
In addition, I am dissatisfied with the handling of my complaint when I contacted your customer service team today. I spoke with a manager who advised that he could not refund either the £95 excess paid for the engineer’s attendance or the £168.12 policy cost. More concerningly, he initially stated that I could not raise a complaint. I explained that 24|7 Home Rescue is regulated and that I am entitled to make a formal complaint, which must be investigated and responded to within the applicable complaint handling timescales. I further explained that if I am not satisfied with your final response, I am entitled to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service. I also requested a complaint reference number, but was informed that one could not be provided and that it would be sent at a later date.
Overall, I believe I have paid a £95 excess for an engineer who attended for less than five minutes, failed to communicate his findings, failed to return as promised, and whose report contains statements that I dispute. I have then had to spend considerable time chasing updates and seeking clarification, only to receive poor customer service and inconsistent information
Update 18/08/2026 **** I got a call from 24 7 home Rescue - was offered £30 to close the complaint then offered £47 as i said i was going to financial ombudsman. LOL- Awful customer service Explained that i am going to FOS. Do not use you have been

First off, when calling, the options to get through to someone were a bit confusing as nothing was matching my need but when I did speak to someone, they attempted to assist over the phone with live video sharing before having to pay the call out fee, which I appreciated.
Engineer came out, saw the error appearing on the boiler and knew immediately why it was happening. They fixed the issue and then came back the next day to fit a new part
Excellent service from the engineer
