Super bad experience at this place.
Super bad experience at this place.
I went to the doctor for 3 reasons: an allergy/skin reaction crisis, my first GP appointment in DK, and a gastro reflux that I have been facing.
The appointment started with me showing the skin reaction to the doctor and describing the treatment that I'm used to, but which was not working at this time. He agreed that it is a good treatment but mentioned that it is probably not effective due to lack of vitamin D, despite of the fact that I'm taking vitamin D daily and that I already faced this type of crisis when leaving in other (sunny) countries, facing even a glottis edema back there. Ok, he at least requested a blood exam to check the vitamin D levels.
Then, I wanted to mention to him the treatments that I'm under and tell my medical history, considering it was my first time there (or second considering a driver license appointment). I told him that I'm under two medications for a chronic diasease and he did not identify one of them and suggested me to change it. He opened a WIKIPEDIA page, checked the alternative option, and suggested me. I mentioned that I tried this one before and that I gained weight, and my cholesterol levels got high. He said, and I quote, " hum ok, I suppose you don’t want it again, right ?". Of course I do not want high cholesterol levels again. I suggested him to talk to the specialist that have been following me for 5 years or refer me to a specialist . He said, and I quote again, “I can give you a referral, but it will take about 1y for you to get an appointment and I can also prescribe this type of medicine, you just need to tell me what you want”. I don’t want to tell what I want to a doctor; I want him to define what I need, taking my 5 years history of treatments into consideration.
After that he said: “you have 3 minutes, anything else you want ?”. I told him about the gastro reflux and that I was under some emergency medicine since it started, prescribed by a doctor during my holidays to attenuate the symptoms, but with the recommendation that I should visit a doctor when back to Denmark. Then the doctor said: “well, we have something similar here in Denmark, I can prescribe you”. I had to say myself that I didn’t want him to prescribe the medicine, but to investigate the reason of the problem. Only then he proposed a feces exam.
There is a chance both the skin reaction and the gastro symptoms are psychosomatic and related, as it happened before, and he didn’t even think about it. Maybe it is not, but if I hadn’t asked him to find the reason of the symptoms, he would just re-prescribe medication.
After that, I did not have time to give any other medical history.
I went to a doctor looking for care and treatment, not for him to ask me which medication I wanted, or to check Wikipedia for alternative treatments instead of sending me to a specialist or to almost expel me out of the clinic without knowing my medical history. It was very disappointing, and I decided to change to another clinic.
I've been to doctors in different countries and was never treated like that.
