Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 376 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. People frequently complained about extremely long wait times for call-backs, with many left waiting many hours or even days without any proper response on the phone lines. Consumers often felt that the staff was dismissive, unhelpful, and frustratingly difficult to communicate with when seeking medical help during urgent situations. However, some customers also noted that when they finally connected with someone, the medical care received was surprisingly prompt, kind, and effective. A few people also praised specific doctors and practitioners for being thorough, professional, and genuinely reassuring during their stressful consultations. These positive moments brought genuine relief to patients who managed to get through.

Spoke to lady called kizzie on 2nd July…

Spoke to lady called kizzie on 2nd July on a 111 call for an ambulance at stratford and she was rudely spoken and when I asked her name she asked why I needed it. My colleague was having a suspected stroke and kizzie wasn't empathetic at all, luckily it wasn't a stroke but the ambulance took over an hour to come, This service needs reviewing. Extremely dissapointing as we pay all put taxes.

Seriously - DON’T BOTHER.

I need an emergency dental appointment as am suffering with a severely impacted and infected wisdom tooth which is resulting in probably the worse pain I’ve ever felt in my life. It’s to the extent where I now have trouble swallowing, cannot eat, or even open my mouth. I called them at 4am in desperate need and was told I was eligible for an emergency appointment and to expect a callback. 15 hours later and nothing. Absolutely disgusting service. The odd time in my life I’ve ever required help like this and they lie to you to get you off the phone and just leave you to suffer. Love to know where my national insurance money goes when basic services like this can’t be accessed when you’re in dire need.

Don’t bother

Would have given zero stars if possible, complete waste of tax payers money. No service at all , called in middle of night for support due to my husband being in agony , booked callback up to 2 hours ! 6 hours later despite called to chase it up , nothing . Had to go to A&E for another 8 hours later despite wait to be diagnosed . Dreadful , wouldn’t treat an animal this way let alone a human. No duty of care .

Absolutely shocking the nhs 111 service…

Absolutely shocking the nhs 111 service and out of hours so called GP. 10 days not 9 days no sleep at all, the GP only ringing twice at the exact same time and a lousy voicemail and said likely fast asleep 😡No O wasn't!!!! I kept my eyes open until 4.40am waiting for the call, joints absolutely killing and decided to just lie down and close my eyes and I heard my phone vibrate once because I put my phone on silent which I always do when I try and sleep. The nhs no absolutely nothing about complex mental health!! I am completely done with everyone who work for them!! I have no respect at all for these so called healthcare professionals. I have already made a complaint to my last gp surgery due to the lack of care. They carry on ill be taking it further!!

If I had waited I would have died

If I had followed and waited for a phone call from 111 service gp, I would have been dead, I suggest anyone ignore 111 service and goto A&E if anything to do bowels or any other pain. Even a graze I wouldn’t consider them.

Honestly the questions from triage feel…

Honestly the questions from triage feel like an interrogation rather than a fact find. Very repetitive. You then have to repeat it all again if you get a call back which is so difficult if you are in extreme pain and anxious.
If you have anything complex going on that doesnt agree with their tick box system you really don't get anywhere.
I also have found on the occasions I have called they are very dismissive of pain to the point of being of being rude.
Wait times for call backs are frequently very long too

dont waste your time

they are good when you forget to order a repeat script but for anything else dont waste your time the doctors they use are not the finest examples of NHS staff they are the dregs the 111 service is one way the NHS wastes money that could be spent on nurseing staff The NHS spends more money on admin than on paitent care and 111 is a fine example of this money waisting system

Negligent, dangerous, life threatening, disgusting

My partner is out of hospital three weeks after open heart surgery to replace a valve. His surgical team put great emphasis on how important it is for him not to fall.

Today he fell heavily, his wound immediately started to bleed, he also his his head, and slightly confused for a minute.

We immediately phoned nhs 111, they said they would send an ambulance. We waited for half an hour, then they phoned back, asked him lots of questions, and refused to send an ambulance as it wasn't serious,. His wound is still bleeding, we told them this, they didn't care, and still refused to send an ambulance, and wanted him to phone some other number instead.

We immediately phoned 999, and they said he needed an ambulance!

Dangerous, life threatening service that should be immediately discontinued,. People could die because of this awful negligent service. Useless.

One child need emergency surgery and other could have lost their sight useless thought was being good helping A&E and they try to encourage you to use it to help A&E well should be useful and instant call back. I understand their is a lack people but needs drastically improvement could endadnger life if we waited for their call back, google was more useful

First time using this service yesterday…

First time using this service yesterday and I cannot thank them enough very helpful got a doctors phone appointment within 2 hours (that wouldn’t have happened if I had contacted my doctors surgery) and also spoke to a doctor very late at night when I had another concern. He actually had time to listen to me and talk things through.
