I am extremely frustrated with my experience at SIXT.
I had fully prepaid and booked this reservation 2 months in advance, yet on the day of pick-up in Nuremberg, we were told for the first time that the car could not be driven into Budapest — something that was never disclosed anywhere in the booking, emails, or prior communication. If we had known, we would never have booked this.
We were then refused the vehicle entirely, with no alternative and no real help, and simply told to contact customer service ourselves. Our entire trip depended on this booking.
With no support, we had to arrange a last-minute train to Munich, causing stress, delays, and extra costs. At the Munich branch, we were forced into a walk-in booking, paying €2,462 for 4 days for a Volvo XC60 — compared to €1,830 for 10 days originally. The financial loss is obvious.
Customer service provided no meaningful assistance.
Absolutely unacceptable — I would not trust SIXT for important travel plans.
