Ok so where do I start. I looked at a car to buy for my family and wife and we anted to lock in a £100 deposit in which the agent said they will get back to me which they never did. Then I went back in the add and it was gone so I was looking everywhere else for a similar model. Eventually 5 days later it was again on the site so my wife reached out and managed to get in touch so I put down the deposit. I scheduled a visit from london to Ipswich which is a 2 hour drive and more than 100 miles. I rented a car for the day and drove down there with my wife and my 4 month old baby.
Got to the dealership and to be honest I know they were busy but the service was not the most accommodating. However I have them the benefit of the doubt and carried on as I thought I am a genuine buyer and do not want to waste time and money travelling from london.
The sales approach was yep let’s do the deal we can’t negotiate but can take of £100 of the warranty which I have to pay £500 for anyways which was a joke.
The car itself was clean from the inside but not fresh and ready to go from the outside. There was mould or marks of the spray left on the belts which one of the staff said. This car has been stocked up in their facility since the beginning g if the year and when we got through all of the negotiations which they did not drop the price at all I found out that it had not been serviced but recently had a MOT done which had an advisory regarding the brakes which again they said they can not do anything and will give me a discount if I take out the warranty.
Eventually I got past everything and said I will be back in a few days as my wife really like the car and is perfect for a our new and if someone give me a call tomorrow which is today to ensure the car is ready. Guess what no call no email no communication I called them and spoke to someone and they said the person I was dealing with is his day off so surely someone else would have picked this up. They said they call and nothing I tried again and no answer so here we are writing this review as I have a. Paid a £100 deposit with the intention of buying a fully serviced vehicle with no issues b. Not happy that no consideration was taken from me driving from london spending money on a car to rent to get us down there with a 4 month old baby and now no one seems like to take ownership and communicate very poor. Don’t even know if I really want the car now.
Honestly a bit of curtesy and people management go very far and don’t want me up having reviews like this.
Everybody was polite and made you feel welcome. Stacy was brilliant and very helpful
I just brought a car from Hammonds and was dealing with Robert. He was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He was also very friendly and I enjoyed buying a car from him. Thank you Rob ☺️
Benga was a good sales man helped us so much and been so happy with your service
Ollie was professional; organized, patient and answered all questions. I would definitely use them again!
The team was great and was patient with me explaining all the expectations of my needs.
Very disappointing and misleading buying experience
I paid the full asking price for my vehicle, yet the overall experience was poor from start to finish.
The car was handed over in a dirty condition. The explanation given was that it had been parked under a tree, but I would expect any reputable dealer to clean and prepare a vehicle before a customer arrives to collect it.
The Auto Trader advert also showed the car with neck support pillows fitted. When I questioned why they were missing, I was told the photos were generated or enhanced by AI and did not accurately represent the vehicle. I found this extremely disappointing and misleading. Advertisements should show the actual specification and condition of the car being sold.
The salesperson was polite but unable to answer several basic questions about the vehicle and explained that they had only been in the job for two months. I was also told that the business sells around 250 cars per month and is very busy. As a customer spending £20,000, I did not feel this was an acceptable excuse.
The car was also missing floor mats and I was simply told that it came without them. No effort was made to rectify this.
The office and customer area were untidy, with dirty carpets and tables, which did not give the impression of a professional dealership.
To their credit, they offered to top the fuel up from half a tank to full and to wash the car, but I was told I would need to wait behind several other customers for the wash, which was unreasonable given the vehicle should have been prepared beforehand.
In the end, I accepted the car because I had travelled and did not want to start the search again, but I left feeling disappointed and undervalued as a customer.
The car itself is fine, but the buying experience fell well below what I would expect when spending this amount of money. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Hammond Cars.
Your staff were very kind and helpful and understanding towards somebody like me,( no longer young). The purchase of the car we selected went through smoothly without any problems. Well done everybody.
I have just bought a car from Hammonds in ipswich, I was dealing with Ollie. I can honestly say the whole experience from first looking at the car, to leaving with it yesterday has been excellent. Ollie was professional, accommodating and understanding. He answered every question I had in a way I would understand. I cannot recommend him enough. My experience was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you are looking for a new car definitely go to Hammonds in ipswich
Fantastic car bought from you. Jayden was incredibly helpful from our first enquiry right through to our purchase. Nothing was too much trouble - everything was dealt with quickly. Communication was excellent and he was very patient. Highly recommended.
I have just purchased a new car at Hammond Cars In Great Yarmouth.
From the minute I walked into the office I was made welcome. I didn’t feel at anytime I was pushed into my purchase.
Any questions I had were answered professionally.
I would definatly recommend buying a car from here.
I want to especially thank Holly who done the handover today for me and sorted all the paperwork out and shew me things in the car I hadn’t checked on a previous viewing. Holly really did put my mind at ease.
Very helpful staff. George answered all my questions & was very professional.
We initially paid a deposit on a white Tesla Model 3. During our first visit, I carried out a thorough inspection and did not find any crack in the windscreen. We returned on 18 March 2026 to collect the car after Hammond Cars had prepared it. Before completing the purchase, I gave the car one final look and noticed a crack in the windscreen that had not been brought to my attention. When I raised it, I was initially told there was no crack until a member of staff came outside, inspected the car with me, and acknowledged it.
Looking back, I should have walked away. Instead, I trusted Hammond Cars and bought a blue Tesla Model 3.
Just about two months later, the blue Tesla developed recurring “Propulsive Power Reduced” warnings, together with a startup whirring noise and vibration through the pedals. Tesla diagnosed a blocked Superbottle restricting coolant flow to the drive motors and quoted over £1,000 for the repair.
Despite providing Hammond Cars with Tesla’s diagnosis and Tesla’s written confirmation that the blockage would most likely have developed over time, they refused to contribute anything towards the repair.
I bought from a dealership because I expected the reassurance of buying a vehicle that had been properly checked before sale, together with the after-sales support that comes with paying a premium over buying privately. Sadly, that wasn’t my experience. Looking back, I genuinely feel I would have been no worse off buying from Facebook Marketplace than paying more to buy from Hammond Cars.
Great service from hammonds ipswich, we brought a car for my partner from here a year ago and I've been looking at a new car for myself for a few weeks now and have test driven a few, finally purchasing one today.
They give you space to look around, theres nothing worse then having a sale rep over your shoulder.
I've dealt with various staff at ipswich, all being approachable but today we dealt with kerion (hopfully ive remembered that right) there was abit if a delay but we got there in the end. Car is fab, could of done with a little clean on the outside but its not the end of the world. Process for buying was easy. No concerns.
If we need a new car we will return, but in the nicest possible way I hope we dont see hammonds again for a fair while :D
The salesperson I dealt with (Benji) was really helpful and easy to deal with; however I was not happy with their pricing strategy, the first time I called I spoke to a woman and she was not helpful with my particular needs and eventually cost me £900, not ideal.
The car is great up to now and I’m very pleased with it.
We collected our new car from them this morning, not clean on outside after a few reminders it was hastily wiped on the outside, still not all clean on outside and inside there were cobwebs by passenger door dirty marks at back of drivers and passenger seats, this car was a lot of money and at least should be clean when we collected it!!
My wife and I just endured a nightmare experience with Hammond Cars Norwich that cost us 7 hours of travelling and £446.16 in wasted travel fares, all due to completely untrustworthy and unprofessional staff and misleading descriptions.
I was looking at a vehicle priced at £15,500. The salesperson, Curtis, told me on Thursday 30th May to wait until Saturday for him to get back to me with a finalized price after asking for a small discount. Instead of calling back, he ignored my calls all day. When I finally got through to his colleague, Ethan, I was told the price had been increased by market data they have no control over up by £200 to £15,700. This forced me into a position where I had to pay a £500 deposit just to lock it in, out of fear of further price manipulation.
Because I have a severe back condition and was travelling 3.5 hours each way, I explicitly asked multiple times for a video and absolute confirmation that the car was in perfect condition. I was assured it was.
When we arrived, the car was a total mess and arguably unsafe. It had:
A front passenger tyre which was badly bald and concern of mechanical issue and safety.
An active, heavily bubbling inverter coolant system fault under the bonnet.
A broken rear passenger window that wouldn't operate.
A mo working air conditioning system.
A large unadvertised dent in the driver's door and loose external pannel trim.
When confronted with these issues, Curtis’s exact words to me were: "I don't check the cars, I just sell them." This is an appalling admission of incompetence from an established dealer.
When I complained to the General Manager, he hid behind a defensive corporate wall, claiming their mechanic checked it the next day and "everything was fine"—completely contradicting what we saw with our own eyes on the forecourt on the day and also havingba refund of deposit slip clearly stating all these reason above and having video and picture evidence provided to management still nonone thought it would be good to look into this.
They flatly refused to reimburse a single penny of our travel expenses, despite their staff explicitly misleading us into making the journey.
Thankfully, I received the return of my £500 deposit, but I am still massively out of pocket for the travel and wasted time. Buyers beware: do not trust their word, do not trust their "mint condition" promises, or 5 star reviews and do not travel any distance to buy from Hammond Cars. Completely unprofessional and deceitful. This was the most worst experience i have every experienced and it seems like the place is run by people who dont understand or care about their jobs and roles and confidential mislead honest people who have saved their hard earnings to be mislead into spending on a company who has no regards to looking into or correcting a massive issue like this which prevented a resolution or sale.
PLEASE BE AWARE AND BUY FROM A MAIN DEALER INSTEAD AS THIS PLACE IS VERY VERY POORLY RUN AND ARE HAPPY TO SELL YOU SOMETHING THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT OR HAVE CHECKED OVER IT SEEMED.
STAY SAFE AND STAY FAR AWAY
Daniel Grandao made buying this car so very pleasurable and enjoyable and he did everything to help us. - He was so helpful and knowledgeable and he made buying our car a pleasure.
Thank you.
