In my opinion, they are scammers!!!
I strongly warn against the broker stressfreecarrental and the rental agency AUTOVIA. I rented a car at Bari airport between August 28 and 31, 2026, through stressfreecarrental, using the Autovia rental agency. When I made the reservation on the website (the rental cost was 148.61 PLN as a prepayment plus 61.06 EUR payable on-site), an additional charge of approximately 200 EUR for extra insurance was unfortunately added at the location. An additional 250 EUR was also held on my card as a "refundable deposit." Unfortunately, as of September 29, I have not received a refund for either the 250 EUR deposit or the 200 EUR for the extra insurance. I should mention that when I booked the car on the stressfreecarrental website, there was no mention of an additional 200 EUR insurance charge. I was supposed to pay 61.06 EUR on-site, but instead, I was charged 265.66 EUR. In my opinion, they are scammers!!!

To confirm exactly what this amount refers to, we need to check the documentation related to your specific rental. Please contact us at customercare@autovia.it and include your booking details so that our team can review the case.
Regarding the €350, if this is the security deposit, it is normally held as a pre-authorisation rather than a final charge. Autovia releases the pre-authorisation after the rental has ended and the required checks have been completed. The time it takes for the amount to become available again then depends on the card issuer and banking circuit.
We also apologise for the delay in replying to your previous message.

We regret the delay in receiving the vehicle and the fact that, according to your account, you had to accept a car with existing damage because the office was close to closing. Any pre-existing damage should be correctly recorded at collection.
Regarding the fuel charge, the vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at collection. Since you state that you refuelled immediately before returning the car, the charge should correspond to the fuel level actually recorded at return.
We are also sorry that the assistance you received at both locations did not meet your expectations.

The car was ready on time, a cleaned and brand-new Ford Tourneo, bigger than expected, and no problem to take several big luggages. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The counter is inside the arrival hall, and the car parking only 150m in easy reach. Very good choice.

This concerns the Bari airport and the rental agency there. The service at the counter was excellent; the ladies were pleasant, and despite the heat and the chaos at the airport, everything went smoothly. If I could rate just the service separately, I’d give the ladies a 5—but I’m giving the rental agency a 1 overall because of the service at the parking lot.
The car was clean; I picked it up with a full tank and returned it with a full tank. I filled it to the brim 10 km before the rental location—showing the receipt didn't help, as they charged me 30 euros for "missing fuel" anyway. I never received a reply to my email. It’s strange. We rented three cars at the same time—one after another, 3 families,—and returned them the same way. We filled them up at the same station at the same time before returning them and drove to the airport together. They deducted money from me, but not the others. Did my car really burn that much fuel over just 10 km? Oh well. I’m writing off the 30 euros as a vacation expense, but the way they handled it is odd, as is the lack of a response. I won't exactly go broke over 30 euros, but they won't earn 600 euros from me next time I need to rent a car.
