Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Easy to get emergency appointment. However vet wouldn’t give my pet antibiotics as I thought were needed . Vet said she couldn’t justify giving them but gave pain relief to pet . Cat was examined but not thoroughly. Had to return to my vet next day who did give antibiotics for sick cat . Consultation on Sunday was £315 to see a vet before any treatment.

Very friendly staff, great with my dog and as a Rottweiler owner we sometimes come across vets that come across uncomfortable with the breed. But each member of staff was amazing and confident with my rottie which also made me feel at ease.

My girl dog went down hill in a matter of an hr, called vets now waiting 20 mins for a response, i understand it was Xmas day and busy, i got there and was told one vet was in. When my dog was seen I was told GI inflammation yet she had no sickness or diarrhoea. No temperature either. She was refusing food and drink. She had bloods which she struggled with as she was in pain and being restrained. 3 attempts and she’s now terrified of the vets. Where she hasn’t ever been before. Blood normal was all the information I got, She was given an opioid injection and sent me on my way. I rang back in the evening as she breathing was so fast and her heart rate increased. I was told she was fine.
We ended up back again Boxing Day as she had refused water and not weed. In 27 hrs. She wanted to repeat bloods but my girl was so traumatised from the day before she was panicked. So the vet took her out the back to give her meds to calm her to see if she could do the bloods. She didn’t manage but has 4 holes in her leg. I was told this time it was spinal pain, but I again didnt agree I believe the flinch was from the opioid injection sight the night before. She also weed all over herself in the crate in the vets. And was left soaked in her urine! If they’d have called me I could have cleaned her up. I had to ask for tissue to dry her!
Again given morphine and sent on our way.
At no point did anyone try to check her urine to see if she had a uti and that was why she wasn’t weeing.
I saw my own vets yesterday who said it was all bladder. As she has sludge in her bladder on ultrasound, I just can’t believe the lack of investigation, the lack of compassion and
Empathy! And the misdiagnosis twice! I feel very unheard especially when you have paid 800£ for nothing helpful. I will not be using them again.
Also they never sent notes to my vets so they had no clue what had been done or what her blood results were.

The vet was friendly and listened to what we had to say and was very thorough and our rabbit is now on the way to recovery! The receptionist was friendly too.

Visited on Christmas Day (the evening). Unfortunately this was always going to be a very busy time and my dog had ingested drugs on a walk. With only one vet on duty and several emergency operations there were dogs like mine and in worse condition waiting a very long time to be seen which could have been fatal. It puts far too much pressure on the vet who cannot be everywhere and as a veterinary professional I strongly believe compromised care. There should have been at least two vets available - one for surgery and one for consults. Had my dog had his bloods run earlier perhaps more could have been done to limit the damage done to his liver (iv fluids would generally be indicated) as well as continuing the charcoal treatment earlier. I want to be clear the vet was fantastic as were the staff however they were severely understaffed. What would happen if the vet is in surgery and a critical patient comes in that needs immediate life saving work/surgery? There needs to be a minimum of two vets on duty in order for the service to be safe. Out of hours care is at a massive premium and so the care offered must be safe, effective and well led and that starts with adequate staffing.

Got an emergency appointment straight away. When we arrived with our dog we went straight in and she was given a full check up. The reception staff were very polite and helpful.

Needed an emergency vet as ours wasn’t open. Fig had broken his leg. Seen promptly and pain managed but the cost of consultation and painkillers was extortionate

Extremely rude Vet. Even asked me Whether I felt she was born in UK, or eastern Europe? Asking me whether I felt due to her being Eastern European, should she not be paid properly? Quite frankly I have no idea what her idea of reasonable payment, would be, absolutely irrespective of where she was from!! And in my opinion, anywhere worldwide, 3 minute assessment is too much to charge £313.50!! Particularly when I had explained our situation. I couldn't care less, regarding the question I was asked, however, I do care about fairness and being ripped off! Also I had to put up, with the Vet questioning me about food shopping! I assume my appearence was being highlighted?! I have a medical condition, Hypothyroidism. Thank you for a most regretable visit to your Vets, a HORRIBLE experience and treatment.
Yours faithfully

Our little dog Teddy was badly scolded on the 18th Oct, just under a week later he ripped all the scab's off causing an infection.
We rushed him to Vets now as an emergency, and they were excellent. Giving him antibiotices and pain killers. teddy's doing so well now and is nearly heald, we are just waiting for all the dry scab's to fall off.

Thank you for accommodating our dog in an emergency.
Lovely, helpful, compassionate, understanding and kind staff who explained everything at every step to ensure we fully understood what was needed, what was being considered, what the costs would be and what post-care would look like. Thank you.

We had to travel from around 15 miles away and they were waiting for us when we arrived. The vets acted really quickly and explained everything to us as we went along.
Our pup stayed overnight and they were there on the phone around midnight to update us. They knew who we were when we called and came across very personable.
It was a relief to speak to someone who knew exactly what was going on and could update us accordingly.
Thanks to them our pup was ok and came home the next day. It was a terribly worrying time but I can’t fault their compassion, knowledge and speed. Thank you to all at the Coventry site.

Friendly staff and very thoughtful, we visited for an emergency appointment - ai had cut my leg and when I asked for some sanitising wipes I was given some no questions asked, our dog had an accident on the floor but the lovely receptionist was more than happy to help clean it. The Vet Charlie was informative and put our minds at ease, and gave us all the options of tests and things and gave us his honest opinion. Not our usual vet but 10/10 would use again.
