TeamViewer provides a Digital Workplace platform that connects people with technology—enabling, improving and automating digital processes to make work work better. In 2005, TeamViewer started with software to connect to computers from anywhere to eliminate travel and enhance productivity. It rapidly became the de facto standard for remote access and support and the preferred solution for hundreds of millions of users across the world to help others with IT issues.
Today, around 645,000 customers across industries rely on TeamViewer to optimize their digital workplaces—from small to medium-sized businesses to the world’s largest enterprises—empowering both desk-based employees and frontline workers. Organizations use TeamViewer’s solutions to prevent and resolve disruptions with digital endpoints of any kind, securely manage complex IT and industrial device landscapes, and enhance processes with augmented reality powered workflows and assistance—leveraging AI and integrating seamlessly with leading tech partners.Against the backdrop of global digital transformation and challenges like shortage of skilled labor, hybrid working, accelerated data analysis, and the rise of new technologies, TeamViewer’s solutions offer a clear value add by increasing productivity, reducing machine downtime, speeding up talent onboarding, and improving customer and employee satisfaction.
The company is headquartered in Göppingen, Germany, and employs around 1,900 people globally. In 2024, TeamViewer achieved a revenue of around EUR 671 million. TeamViewer SE (TMV) is listed at Frankfurt Stock Exchange and belongs to the MDAX. Further information can be found at www.teamviewer.com.

Heads-up to anyone with a TeamViewer subscription: check your inbox. Right now.
TeamViewer is sending out an email with the subject line "great news" announcing that they've "added extra AI credits to your subscription at no additional cost today." Sounds nice. It isn't.
Buried further down: when your subscription renews, the AI package becomes a permanent part of your plan, and your renewal price goes up. You have 14 calendar days to object in writing if you want to keep your existing setup and pricing. Don't object, you pay more. Miss the email, the deadline, or read it too quickly = you pay more.
This is a textbook negative option. The default is the upsell. The customer carries the burden of saying no, on a tight clock, after being told it's a gift.
In the EU this kind of practice runs into the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/EC) and, in Denmark, Markedsføringsloven §§ 5–6 on misleading commercial practices. Whether TeamViewer's EULA clause permitting silent acceptance of price increases is itself enforceable is a separate question under Danish aftaleloven § 36 (unfair contract terms). What is not in question is that calling a price increase "no additional cost today" is, at the very least, deeply misleading.
If you got the email: object in writing within 14 days, citing EULA section A.2.4, and demand confirmation that the renewal will proceed at the current price without the AI add-on. Keep the confirmation. If they bill you anyway, you have a chargeback case and a complaint to file with the Forbrugerombudsmand.
Repeated chargebacks against a merchant can also contribute to card-scheme penalties. Win-win.
To anyone working at TeamViewer reading this: when your growth strategy depends on customers not reading their email carefully enough, that's not growth. That's the reputation you build, and it attaches to the people who ship and sell it, not just the logo.
Worth asking yourself whether it's what you want to be part of. Make noise. Demand that the company you represent treats its customers fairly, in the same way you would want to be treated yourself.
To everyone else, there are alternatives that compete on the product instead of on dark patterns.
Answer to the answer:
So clearly you will do nothing, understood.
You send a "newsletter" with hidden price increase. Not a clear informative letter.
You better fix this issue for every single user - for real, or just write that you dont care at all.

This application is easy to use with surprisingly robust features. It worked well, even in an environment where other solutions failed because the security policies are so strict.
