Very poor communication skills. I happen to miss 2 bi-weekly payments and got no notification nothing. They are supposed to be pulling payments out of another account. No attempts been made.... See more

This is *the* worst bank in Mexico
This is *the* worst bank in Mexico, second only to BBVA. The employees are rude, and they act like they’re doing you a favor. I practically had to beg to open an account. And then 10 days later, they closed my account with no warning and for no reason other than “because.” They took 10 days to return my funds. They are the worst! Don’t bank here. Ever.
The fees are ridiculous
The fees are ridiculous. I was hit with overdraft charges despite not having overdraft protection in place. Money was being taken out of my account and then put back in, and somehow I got charged for those transfers—over fifty times. I have a basic checking account and get one deposit a month; this shouldn’t be rocket science. When I went in to close my account, I was nearly thrown out of the building. The customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced—rude, unhelpful, and downright hostile. I’ve never been sworn at by support staff before, but somehow they managed it. It’s like the whole team was trained to be jerks.

With their 2 step varivcation you can't even get into your account,in fact you have to unlock your phone which is totally foolish. The 2 step varivcation is just a pain, you shouldn't have to go through the stuff they put you through to check your account on line. I am deleting the app because it is useless.
If I could rate my experience as zero…
If I could rate my experience as zero stars, I would. I am incredibly frustrated with Scotiabank and its policies as it pertains to mortgages, mortgage deferrals and even being able to connect with a representative in a manageable about of time. With teachers on strike in Alberta, many have been trying to connect with Scotiabank to talk about options. I personally have spent upwards from 8 hours on HOLD with Scotiabank to simply talk to someone about options. My first attempt, I was on hold for two hours and then was cut off as they closed. The second time I was given a number to call, was on hold for almost three hours and told that it was not the correct department and then given another number to call in case "they disconnected". They transferred me, to wait another 2 plus hours only to get disconnected because they closed. I am now on attempt number three and have been on hold for almost three hours. Do better Scotiabank. Or at very least let this serve as a warning to those that are considering a mortgage through this bank. As someone who has never missed a payment, or been late, I am disgusted by the lack of customer care.
Erroneous fees and charges
I noticed a series of new fees that Scotiabank charged my account. When calling the branch manager, to inquire about the charges. They indicated that if I don't like them, she would be happy to shut my account down. Which she did. That was my "punishment" for daring to challenge them. When comparing banks, in my opinion this one is by a mile, the worst in service and trustworthiness.

One of the desks clerks on blanshard uptown branch victoria bc with zero Customer service toward me. I was very.
Disappointed with the service by one gentleman named rashny Aggressive and very rude towards customers and should not be working in public Horrible experience i'm closing my account
Deducted interac etransfers in error
Deducted interac etransfers in error. I had 2 interac e-transfers through my banking app on Sunday. I received an error message that the transfer could not be completed did I want to retry. I selected yes and I received another error message, so I exited the banking app. Then Scotiabank debited my bank account for both unsuccessful transfers. I tried calling the bank 3 times on the next business day only to have my call terminated each time due to “technical difficulties”. On the 2nd business day after being placed on hold for half an hour I managed to file a ticket which took the agent 15 minutes to complete. I’m still waiting for a resolution to the matter. Scotiabank earns significant profits from its business, but I receive superior customer service and technology reliability from my local credit union. I can’t wait until I sell my house in the near term, pay off my Scotiabank mortgage and close my accounts with them.
Worst possible customer service
Worst possible customer service. plus their credit card sucks. even 1 star sounds good for them. should introduce negative rating 😬
Wouldn’t even give a star
Wouldn’t even give a star
Keep away from these guys
I recently got scammed. My bank info got leaked
Pulled my money from the account. Insurance tried pulling their payment got NSF
Even though I sent the payment directly
They requested a letter from my bank confirming the fraud. I may have spent 1 hour on the phone getting transferred without being informed
The fraud department wouldn’t help me
And the branch manager refused to give me the letter
So I might end up taking an insurance hit because they refuse to give their customer any proof of fraud. Stay away from this bank

Hours of operation is unfavorable for business days 9:00 to 5:00. Other banks offer better decent time for their customers? I will be switching to other bank that's open later than 5:00 p.m. as it is very inconvenience as I am working 9:00 to 5:00.

Do not bank with this Scotiabank!!!
It’s a long story that I don’t want to get into right now, but will when the time is right.
ALERT IF YIU BANK WITH SCOTIABANK OR INTEND TO
Scotiabank? Customer or wanna be???
ALERT!
They have ZERO fraud protection.
Week after week. 9k then 5 k then 2k stolen from our account
Then multiple groceries delivered to a scammer. Gift cards bought. THROUGH OUR ACCOUNT! We have every security known to be available through scotiabank. 2 step verification. Text. One phone only so nothing can be done without having your actual phone to verify. AND! E-TRANSFER. someone e-transfered 4K to themselves and went into a branch to have it done. Somehow the person with zero ID ZERO actual verification accessed our account and transferee.
Luckily I spotted it and called fraud dept. how can this be?
Today Sept 29th.2025 someone used 7k on our credit card. Called scotiabank. Had the credit amount raised and spent an extra 3k on card. UNBELIVEABLE.
Then to make it even worse. In Sept 2025 in 29 days we’ve spent over 15 hrs on the phone with them to resolve. So every weekend it seems instead of taking a break from it all. You know. A weekend? We get to spend 3-6 hrs a weekend on the phone. Put on hold to “verify” for 30-50min at a time. Only to be told. Well we don’t know why this is happening but we will review and get your money back to you in 10 business days. WTF??????????? PLEAEE NEVER EVER USE THIS poor excuse for a bank. Headed there tomorrow to close out our accounts. Rip up credit cards. Start all over somewhere else. Manage all the auto payments to be redone. Bills etc. Hours and hours of work. I wish all these scammers would drop dead. Enough already with this. GO GET A JOB AND WORK YOU LOWLIFE TRASH. wow. Hasn’t everyone had enough? 30 scam calls on phone a day. My crypto account hacked. Business Facebook account hacked and this prick used my account to spend a couple grand on advertising their own account through mine. Daily agony. Going back to paying cash. No cards. No online banking. No paying bills online to get scammed most likely by someone that works there. Enough already. Good luck world

Worst bank I have ever dealt with every single week there mobile app is acting up they have taken 2000 dollars out of my account over 3 years and said it was there error but never did repay back what was taken out of my account. Scotiabank is the last bank I would ever recommend to deal with.. I like a bank where when I make my account a certain way they keep it that way not change it on there own without being asked too do so. Scotiabank=headache
A.t.m that steels cash bank that helps
So, on m Monday sept 1 I hit up the ATM on 118th and 82nd, and tried to deposit a bunch of cash. The machine didn't take it all. It was an atm cash jam the machine spit out a receipt that gave me instructions to call the bank with a special number. I think I put in like, a grand to fifteen hundred bucks, but I can't really remember because the machine puked the money back out. I called the bank the next day to complain and gave them the number. Today's the 18th, and I haven't heard a peep from them. I've been calling and calling, and they say they're working on it, but it doesn't feel like they're doing anything. Nobody cares, you know? The big banks are just screwing us little guys.
Setting up a bank account was an…
Setting up a bank account was an absolute trainwreck of an experience. I couldn't activate my card online as prompted, so I had to call for help, and it was drawn out and mostly unhelpful. Then, after depositing my money, my account stopped working online again. I have ultimately decided to switch to another bank, before I even had a chance to use Scotiabank. Great job.
This is the worst bank in history
This is the worst bank in history ( Thunder Bay Branch) . Everyday online banking is under construction. This bank should be dismantled and burnt to the ground. I feel sorry for the cashiers. Their system is a joke always down it’s 2025 people get it together I swear there’s junior high kids can do a better job at running your system 😡 I’m constantly standing in line and card is declined doesn’t work EMBARRASSING I can’t ever get my money out my account is constantly locked and under construction. I was out of town and couldn’t not access my funds😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 . DO NOT deal with this bank among others we are also going to lawyers now they have caused so much stress past 4 yrs I regret ever being involved with this bank.
Scotiabank are Thieves
Wow, scotiabank double charged me and even though I have a record of it, they refuse to acknowledge it and cancel the fake charges. Unbelievable that this is seen as a reputable company. Do not bank with Scotia, they will steal your money.
approved for 7500 credit line by error !!!!!!
approved for 7500 credit line by error!!!!!
i’ve been with scotia for 17 years!! i received a notice on my mobile app stating i was pre approved for a line of credit … i called and asked how it was possible that i was approved that i shouldn’t have been … asked if it was a scam or fraudulent.. customer service reassured me that no it’s not a mistake or scam that i was approved and to wait for my card in mail to activate it … which i received very quickly and activated … i was actively using my line of credit made large payments as well as made my minimum payments on time !! i had visited the branch multiple
times in the time frame of being approved over the fraud department shutting down the card as there were purchase and such that were unusual… in which i thought was awesome for them to do that and keep my account safe …. approximately 4 weeks later my card was declined multiple times k called customer service to be told k was approved by error along with several others and that they closed it down and can no longer use it … ive asked multiple questions about interest i’m paying as well as insurance and such on a line of credo that j can no longer use!!! THEY CANT ANSWER ONE OF my questions as they don’t understand the situation themselves !! i talked to my branch manager who was also unaware of what is happening … i was told to wait for a letter thats it !!! in which it’s 4 weeks later and no letter to be found .. they have done this with no notice to customers and haven't made this situation public at all !! all they keep saying is their sorry .. i only discovered that it is much more then several people who are dealing with this but the number is now in the thousands i was able to find others in my situation on a forum on reddit thats was it !!!! scotia bank is a complete fraudulent bank ive lost all trust with them not to mention the fact that they won’t honour the signed agreement i made with them as the agreement for the libe of credit … basically they can do this as these were offered to those with credit scores that don’t make eligibility and if ur credit score drops they can shut your line down !! they’re requesting those who had them to come to branch and close them !! my branch manager advised me to not close it down !!
