Stoneage banking

I opened an Online Saver (Issue 87) on the 9th April it took until the 14th April for PO/BoI to send an email with my UserID.
Apparently, I have to wait another 5 working days for a letter to arrive with a security number.
I called 0800 169 7500 to ask and Sean advised that sometimes the system allows a new account applicant to set up a security number and sometimes it doesn't.
I said this is taking a long time and was told QUITE TERSELY that if I needed to open a new account they had security checks to carry out and that if I had move money into a savings account that I should have set it up sooner!!!!!
By contrast I set up an OakNorth ISA the day before and by the 14th they had transferred in an ISA and let me know it was earning interest with them - I can log in and see how much interest already.
Meanwhile, I have to wait for Postie to deliver - how quant.
Worryingly PO/BoI seem not to use two factor security - something I thought was industry standard in 2026 and required by law.
However, this is 2026 and the customer is no longer right, I fully expect PO/BoI to post a clever response to this review. Rather than take the complaint onboard, bring their procedure into the 21st C and improve customer service.
I could open an account with another provider and move £250,000 before postie arrives and PO/BoI wake up.

So many bad experiences

I would give zero stars if possible. So many bad experiences with this once good bank.
Was able to view somebody’s bank statement online in branch. Made a complaint, shouldn’t have wasted my time. I wanted to send money to a relative and unbelievable grilling about where my funds came from. Have been using the account for over 40 years. The bank manager came out and never introduced herself. So rude. Trying to make payments is a nightmare. A tradesman was standing beside me giving me his bank details so all details were correct. Had to give him a check. Tried to pay income tax bill as I have done before in branch. Now apparently this can’t be done. 365 helpline was to investigate and get back to me. 5 months later still waiting. Was unable to open an ISA in the branch or at home, software issue. Progressive did it in less than 10 minutes. Tried in branch to send money to Australia. Could only send £1000 on the first day as was adding a new payee. Would have cost a £50 fee to send the money in two transactions over 2-3days. Halifax did it in less than a day for a fee of £9.50. This bank is a joke.

Appalling user experience

Appalling user experience when trying to open an ISA with them. Nonsensical to offer a market leading rate but not have the UX in place to support applications. I opened one last week and sent a deposit, but nothing is showing in their system. I'm chasing to get my money returned and account cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period but no idea what they're doing. Money isn't even showing in the account yet. I've received an email from them saying it could take four weeks to investigate and get back to me. Now found a better rate elsewhere, have opened and have money credited there straight away. Their systems are terribly ineffective, couldn't get through on the phone as they cut me off after long waits. I'd advise anyone to look elsewhere, sadly Martin Lewis is promoting this product on his league table but really needs to consider the customer service given or make people aware of potential issues.

Appalling!

Appalling!! Absolutely appalling. Set up an account online. Was asked to link my current account to allow deposits and withdrawals. Apparently their systems don't recognise my 40 year old standard Barclays account so I was asked to POST a statement to them to prove I am the account holder. That was 3 weeks ago.

Called them a few times, they say stuff but never follow up so they are effectively lying to you over the phone.

My account is still not linked and I can't deposit money into the account to take advantage of the interest rate.

Got a letter this week saying the statement I sent wasn't accepted because the name on my bank account has my initials, not my full name!!!

I won't be changing that Post Office Bank Of Ireland - so where do we go from here?!

Next stop for me - Ombudsman...

Bank of Ireland Coleraine out of touch arrogance

I travelled 30 miles with my brother who has mental health issues to the Coleraine branch of BOI He wanted to switch from a basic account to a current account within the same bank so he could have access to direct debits ,I had tried to do this online for him but an email address was required which he doesn’t have He doesn’t have any internet devices. We assumed we could instead open a current account in branch without an email address instead. But no ,we were told that the ‘policy of the BOI’ was that it switching accounts even in the same bank would have to be online and even through we were in a physical bank they basically couldn’t provide any meaningful banking services .I asked what was the point of the building then but blank faces . So the BOI are openly discriminatory against people with mental health issues without access to the internet often for good reason .The staff looked at us as if we were from a different planet and spouted on about policies they are completely brainwashed , zero customer sensitivity evident What is the point of banks if not to provide inclusive banking services to all .They are only interested in the tech savvy, and the cheapest options making customers do all the work and not the well being of their local community which is the hall mark of a progressive corporation. Well good luck with that BOI you are a disgrace

Online Savings account

Being saving in an online account for several years, until they changed the terms. Both my wife and myself were putting money in from our bank accounts only to find my wifes rejected and returned. They say from April you can only have one nominated account to pay money from and that I was informed (No). The advisor told me to close my account and have another one where my wife could transfer money as well. This was simply untrue after opening another account. The advisors I spoke to 5 of them do not have any consistency in their advise. No other bank to the best of my knowledge adopts this process on paying in from different accounts, I'm sure most people at some stage have sent money to another account or company, but the Post Office say not allowed with us. A loss of another customer I'm afraid after being a customer for 4 years.

Post Office online saver account

Serious problems with direct debit.

I opened 2 Post Office online saver accounts at pofssavecredit.co.uk a year ago. I setup direct debits to add money from my linked account (Lloyds Bank). The money was taken from my Lloyds account but never arrived to my Post Office online saver accounts. Since the 2nd month it worked for a year when the direct debits ended.

Now it happend in other way around. I setup a new derict debit on the saver account to add money from my Lloyds account. The money appeared on my Post Office saver accounts but it was not taken from my Lloyds account. Even I cannot see any direct debit setup on my Lloyds account. Maybe the money was taken from someone else account?
