>open app on tv
>no way to add my media server
>advertising for all these other shows and movies
>uninstall and delete account

The Plex team changed their policy for…
The Plex team changed their policy for free users doubling the cost from 119€ to 229€! This is not fair. I can not trust a company that is changing rules in this way. I moved to Jellyfin (Free and Open Source) and I’m really happy with it.

I've had this app for 15 years and it just keeps getting worse…
I've had this app for 15 years and even paid for a plex pass. Unfortunately, I can no longer sign into my own home server and use it without having to sign into the mother ship. Sorry to see what was once a great app become a shell of its former self and now it's just a vehicle to pay for forced sign in and advertisement you pay for. Oh well, all good things come to an end. I am moving on.
Plex has become bad
Used to love Plex. Price used to be very fair. In 2025 , Plex has decided to become a profit only driven company, with the remote streaming that we have to pay. Bad move !!!! I will now move to JellyFin while hoping that Plex is going to regret every bit of their actions
Plex use to be great but like most…
Plex use to be great but like most companies greed takes over. They have more commercials than actual show time. You have to be willing to watch half show half commercials.
Like being vexed, download Plex!
Continuous 'freezing' and forever downloading.
Lets stop normalising corporate theft and changing sales terms
I paid for their app specifically to watch my own movies anywhere I want. Then they changed the terms of the sale and they are charging a monthly fee on top of what I paid. I'm going to ask for a refund but I'm not hoping for much...
Worse with every update, avoid at all costs
After over a decade I've reached my limit and will never recommend Plex again. Over many years they have consistently shown to ignore user feedback, let years long feature-breaking bugs run rampant and only work on features noone asked for which only serve their interest in selling more subscriptions. They constantly remove features users pay for without reimbursement. They now force you into their metadata services despite better alternatives. Apps are wildly inconsistent and impossible to describe to someone else unless you have the same model device and change on a near yearly basis and desktop apps want administrative privilege to update every time you open the app. The latest iOS app is straight up unusable, they removed all of your hosted media from the page in lieu of their paid streaming service and made it impossible to modify the play queue, browse your collection while watching and straight up removed the watch history (among other features). Just look at the latest iOS reviews, ALL are 1 star. And to top it all off they have now begun openly selling your information even if you're solely serving data from your own server to your own devices. This is a company who does not care about you or the product they sell and are only interested in the almighty dollar. Avoid at all costs!!
Doesn't work no play button
Tried to watch something and there wasn’t even a play button turn out it is only for and few movies and make it look like more. So hard to setup I login and everything just for it to be a waste of time. It seems like a great app with a bunch of free thing but is not barely any of them work. I’m trying to do it on my tv and phone and it has work for neither.
Waste of time trying to watch a movie
I am trying to watch a movie on Plex and there's so much time spent on the adverts that it means you cant enjoy the movie
Plex ruined a perfectly good product. Don’t waste your money on it!!!
For many years plex had been a solid and stable app which I highly recommended to everyone.
Now they decide to force people to pay for something unusable. After using this app for many years, it is now completely broken. The iPhone Plex photos app half works, plexamp works but doesn’t support collections and plex (for movies etc) is completely broken, remote access is unstable, the new interface is crap and the home screen is full of their old outdated movies for streaming. People used this app to access their own media libraries and now they can’t, because plex decided they wanted to be some kind of Netflix clone. Now they are failing miserably at both. If you are thinking of spending money on this broken up junk, I would seriously think again.
An absolute disaster
An absolute disaster. The new app makes everything harder, more inefficient. I have put up with a lot from Plex, but this is the last straw, I'm leaving Plex.
Been using Plex for a long time but now…
Been using Plex for a long time but now it has gone to shit. Can't use remote access as it says it is able and then within 30 seconds it is no longer working. Paid for a lifetime pass about 3 weeks ago. It is a waste of money. Find another product that actually works.

Been a happy user for over a year with a lifetime pass. The new update has rendered nearly every feature I use so frustratingly glitchy it’s borderline unusable. Have recommended Plex to everyone up until recently but not anymore. To rush out this half baked app to coincide with a price increase is ludicrous. Make your product experience unusable at the same time as a price increase, what were they thinking? It’s such a shame, going to give Jellyfin a go alongside Plex and see how that goes. Zero confidence in the future of Plex as they are going downhill fast and making some terrible non user focused decisions. Removing features people want and forcing features they don’t. Such a shame….
Plex Customer Service: Had a Great Interraction
Apparently, being an Apple subscriber to Plex caused me to miss out on the communications relaying the subscription and feature changes in April. Meaning, I missed out on the ability to capture a Lifetime subscription at the old price.
I contacted Plex and they went above and beyond in helping me purchase at the old price - in spite of the Apple subscription throwing a few curve balls at the problem.
In near to 4 years, I've never had an issue using Plex - it's been rock solid locally and remotely; the features provided plus the quality of video transcoding are top notch in my book.
I considered dropping one star due to the poor communication of the feature/subscription changes in April, but that's one issue over 4 years. I would say the bending over backwards, by the representative I connected with, to fix my subscription request, shows they have taken their error to heart and I'm giving them a pass on it.
Limited variety and more commercial…
Limited variety and more commercial breaks (long ones too) than any other streaming platform. Watched one movie from 2002 and every 10 minutes is a 2.5 minute commercial break. More than any other streaming platform. Best to just use another platform on Amazon fire stick or Apple TV
Plex has commercials for MARIJUANA and…
Plex has been a favorite of mine for years!! Why did they start showing commercials for MARIJUANA and CIGARS?? Yuck!!
Last night was the first time I've seen a commercial to purchase marijuana, thank goodness my kids didn't see it....
3mins of adverts per 7mins of movie!
There seems to be 3mins of adverts for every 7minutes of movie! Will not use again. Have deleted the App from my TV.
ABSOLUTELY APPALLING
ABSOLUTELY APPALLING - I purchased a "LIFETIME" activation in February 2025. As of 29 April 2025 I now have pay a monthly subscription to use the same service to stream my OWN home videos to my phone remotely.
3 months is a LONG WAY short of "Lifetime".
