AVOID THIS RUTHLESS COMPANY.

Almeria airport users avoid this company at all costs!
Arrived 27/12/18 first car allocated to us had an illegal tyre so complained and was given another car which had dents on every panel . On returning to airport 4 days later engine management system out vehicle into low engine power. Limped vehicle to airport and explained we couldn’t stop and refuel as the engine was faulty and possibility it wouldn’t start. Told to fill in form explaining this to avoid penalty fuel charge . Guess what they have charged us 50 euros and not returning any calls to question why ! Absolute crooks who don’t even supply decent vehicles .

Absolutely horrific, rude staff, con artists!!!!

Absolutely horrific. They wanted £1400 deposit when I arrived although the confirmation said £800. I was speaking with the women who kept picking up the phone whilst we were mid conversation. The women behind the desk was possibly the rudest women I have ever come across, she left me in tears even telling me the F off. Do NOT hire with this company, Let this be a warning! There are more about, do NOT trust them, the worst.

Horrible, horrible company

Horrible, horrible company.

I didn't have the correct documentation because Expedia had not told me I'd need my passport on collection (I had driving licence, credit cards and proof of address, but this wasn't enough. I even found a photo of my passport on my phone, but there was absolutely no flexibility or understanding). I ended up having to pay extra for an identity check and subsequently for additional unneeded insurance. It's not something I've experienced at any other hire company (I hire cars frequently).

Eight or nine people also hired cars while I was trying unsuccessfully to get the insurance issue resolved. Around half of them were charged extra because of ID issues. I believe that they make ID requirements deliberately inflexible and obtuse to increase charges. Some people obviously have no issues on collection, but do people really want to take the 50/50 chance?

As it turned out the comprehensive insurance I had to take out was useless too. We had a slow puncture, caused by a screw that was probably there on collection. No spare tyre was provided. Despite several calls to try to resolve the only solution offered was farcical - I was to go to Birmingham to collect a new car (I was in South Wales at the time). I clearly refused this and InterRent refused to cover the cost of a new tyre that I could sort locally. I ended up paying for a new tyre to avoid the five hour round trip to Birmingham.

At drop off I briefly commented on the insurance I had been obliged to take out on collection. The response from the clerk summed up the company. Not because of its crassness ("Did I hold a gun to your head and make you accept it?"), but because of the routine way it was said. I was clearly not the first person to hear the phrase, this is a company that has institutionalised appalling service and highly questionable practices.

I will never ever use InterRent/Goldcar again.

AVOID !!!!!

AVOID !!!!!! The most unprofessional and unscrupulous car rental company out there. Please do not even consider using these scumbags. Their only objectives are to upsell extortionate insurance and charge you for existing damage. They will coerce, blackmail and even refuse you a car if you fail to take their insurance. They know you have limited options once you arrive in their offices and most certainly use this to their advantage in extracting as much cash from you as is humanly possible. They play all the tricks like removing parcel shelves from vehicles then charging £150 for "missing" items upon return. Seriously, just stay well away, you have been warned.

DON'T USE THIS FIRM EVER

DON'T USE THIS FIRM EVER. They are con artists of the highest order. They will force you, and I mean FORCE you, to take out insurance to cover the Euro 2,700 CDW at extortionate cost (which works out at approximately Euro £9,125 per year). They will tell you you car WILL be damaged when in Madeira - hence you must take out cover at, for example Euro 200 for just 8 days cover for only Euro 2,700 of cover, even when you have already paid for "full insurance cover" with the firm you booked with - in our case Discover Car Hire (a Latvian Company). They refuse to accept and agree to you leaving a credit card deposit, because they will lose out on the insurance premium money - for which (if they even take it out) they must get a significant kick-back from - hence why they are so keen to get you to take it out. They annoyed us so much we cancelled. We are glad we did. Given the other reviews that we have now seen of alleged damage not caused during the hire, fiddling the fuel gauge to stop it showing as full, hard-selling of very expensive insurance to name but a few frauds this firm carry out. And the reviews on their own web-site appear all to be fake, because they are wholly inconsistent with the Google reviews.

AVOID INTERRENT COLDCAR

We have hired a car for 1 day in Malaga airport. The staff were rude, and not nice at all, instead of quick flawless rental, it took about an hour to get sorted. The woman behind the desk told us that it is very important to check the car for scratches before we take it, and tried to sell us expensive insurance. They took £900 all together from our credit car, just for to make sure everything was ok on returning the car. I have checked my credit card and noticed that they kept the £90 for petrol. We did refuel the car before returning and their rep said that everything was ok.
Now I have tried to contact them several times and I haven’t had any response. I feel helpless and very disappointed with the whole experience.
Please AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! You will be ripped off

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They don’t have customer service. They just have a room full of people paid to insult you, and refuse to help you in anyway. After not returning my deposit properly – I tried to make a complaint… They still didn’t return my deposit and then fraudulently took an additional £900 unauthorised from my credit card! Literally nobody at Interrent cares what happens to you. I asked to speak to the manager – the man kept repeating the words “managers manage lady“ managers manage lady” - And then hung up on me?!?!?! Shame on the companies that allow them to operate under their banner too. NEVER BOOK WITH THEM. They have been bought out by gold car – she previously had the worst reputation on the web… Into rent have joined them, lowest of the low - down with the scum. These people are actually running and criminal enterprise.

They discriminate against British citizens based overseas

Heathrow branch yesterday refused to hire a car to me despite me having booked and paid for it in Sep. Their reason? I didn’t have proof of a Uk address or a UK footprint. I explained that I am on crown service overseas with a tenant living in my property, so do not receive documents by mail to that address. They would not listen despite the fact that I had rented from them before in Feb 2018 in exactly the same circumstances. I then went to a rival company at Heathrow who rented to me without any problems. They were willing to use my proof of travel in and out of the UK which showed that I am not ordinarily resident here. Unfortunately as it was an immediate hire so close to Xmas the premium was sky high....I will never go anywhere near Interrent again.

Hired car from Fuertevenura last…

Hired car from Fuertevenura last weekend. Pre authorised my credit card with £815.00. Returned hassle free and took photos and insisted i have the chap sign the check out sheet.

3 days later i received a refund to my credit card of £766??

Tried the UK number three times and everyone i spoke to were beyond useless. Limited english and couldn't even give me an answer as to why i have received part refund. All they kept saying was file an incident report?? Not helpful. Have had to go down the route of claiming back from my credit card company, which is exactly what they want you to do. Absolutely useless! Will never use again

BEWARE!!!

Quite appalling. It's all been said here already. The modest saving made by choosing their cheap rates was erased many times over by the "hidden" extras. Yes, my fault for not reading the small print, but having hired many cars over 30 years I have never experienced such a devious, snide and blatantly exploitative company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - Dishonest and terrible customer care

We were scammed on holiday to the tune of over £400. I have made an official complaint to InterRent on my return but they have still not responded nearly two months later. I call them on 0207 862 1732, which is their supposed customer service line but they provide anything but customer service. I am informed that I am allowed to speak to no one in complaints and I am not even allowed to know the timeframe in which they will respond to me. I asked for a copy of their Customer Complaint process but they would not provide it. I have now raised the complaint via Barclaycard under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. I would love to know if their is anyone else to complain to about this dreadful company.

Absolute scammers

Absolute scammers. Buried deep in fine print is you need proof of address or won't accept your private insurance or even paying big holding deposit for no daily insurance (in our case their full insurance at 30 pounds per day). No other company does this and clearly just a scam. Even have address on drivers license. Pure and simple these no frills lower cost companies have big catch and end up costing you far more...3 people ahead of us all caught out....we actually walked away and took other transport. Simply avoid at all costs you will be scammed. Staff were rude uneducated and lower IQ to boot and just looking for up sell with these scams. BTW car needs to be returned absolutely spotless or charge cleaning costs as well. Anyway avoid you have been warned and see all the hugely negative reviews here (over 90% 1 star ratings) and on other review sites. They have lost all our future business. Scam scam scam you are warned. We will go for charge back on CC.

Internet Gatwick airport: never again - scammers

I used Interrent in Gatwick airport. It was a disaster. Never to be repeated. Dishonest. Rude and unpleasant personnel. It seemed like they were doing all they could to make you feel miserable and feel cheap for choosing a cheaper no thrills company. Not only to me but to the other customers that arrived at the same time. Waited more than 20 minutes for the navette. They added lots of charges that were not in the original voucher. I will never go with them again and I hope you don’t have to use them either. A miserable experience

Scam merchants. Avoid!

I arrived late to pick up my car but assumed it would be no problem as I had already paid in full. I was told that rentals were cancelled on the system when an hour late and could no longer be accessed. They tried to sell me replacement car hire costing £220 rather than the £28 that I paid for the original hire.

Scam merchants. Do not touch with a barge pole!

Don't touch interrent with a barge…

Don't touch interrent with a barge pole, you think your getting a good deal when you book and pay on line, only to be told that you only have a basic insurance, so they give you two choices pay 900 euros up front (they say they return this if no damage), but no option was on offer to check the car over before excepting it, or number two options is pay 244 euros insurance (not refundable ) this includes airport taxes apparently and some other charges thrown in.....
SO WHAT YOU THOUGHT WAS CHEAP, HONESTLY THEY GET YOU ON THE INSURANCE. ...
RUN FOR THE HILLS....DON'T TOUCH THEM

Aggressive upselling, non-polite, not bothered, so not using ever again

Booked online with Amex, turned up to pay with Amex, was told they don't take Amex. Only way round it was if I opted for the full insurance package (cost of the car rental was £20, they wanted £90 for the insurance. I said no, let's do debit. They wanted to charge me the full excess (£2000), which was fine, i get it, but then when I asked when would they refund the excess, they said they are not sure how it works, and if I would even get that back, but it could all be saved if I was to take out the £90 insurance. The woman dealing with the other agent walked out saying the service was disgraceful, and my agent didn't really care either. I walked out, saying that I wasn't going to take the car after all, they said I wouldn't be able to get a refund (which is exactly what i did get once I spoke with customer services), and then promptly took a car with easirent, which was the complete opposite in terms of service, courtesy and gratitude, and were more than happy to take Amex, and didn't have any issues with me taking the insurance or not, they just made me exactly aware of my liabilities. Interrent couldn't give a monkeys. In fact, i think the agent was even on whatsapp whilst talking with me. Thanks, but no thanks.

If you were cheated from Interrent in UK, report to police

With rentalcars.com I prepaid for a car rental with Interrent GC (Coopers Road, Stansted Airport, CM24 1SJ). It is stated on rentalcars web page that I don’t need to print anything. When I arrived at the Interrent cabin the assistant insisted that I provide a document with my address on it. Otherwise, I had to take out full insurance incurring a new cost. I soon learned from other car rental companies that this address documentation is not required as I have a Swedish passport and driving licence. The assistant still refused me a car. I phoned rentalcars.com, who indicated everything could be solved by an email exchange between the assistant and them. The assistant refused to put a rentalcars.com reference in his system, refused to provide an email address, refused to give his name or to give the telephone number of his manager. When I indicated I would take a photo of him, he became aggressive – he seized all my possessions within his grasp– my computer, passport, driving licence and money wallet. The Goldcar assistant witnessing all of this intervened.
I made a new rental that cost 280 GBP (instead of <60 GBP). The other rental companies that advised me could only win from my misfortune (and the thought occurs that this is almost organized fraud). If they do nothing about Interrent, they get more customers who hire at full cost. They told me (if true): (i) they had contacted the manager at Interrent and that he would look into it, (ii) Everything that happened at Interrent was captured on CCTV.
I have looked at online sites. There are many people with the same story. If the manager at the other company was active in reporting the guy, why does nothing happen? Why does the manager at the Stansted office do nothing? Either they are a legitimate company that employs staff that cheat people or the it is the company's business idea to cheat us. If we don't pay full insurance then no car.
As I booked with rentalcars.com, I can only complain to them (not to Interrent that appear to be owned by Goldcars).
Rentalcars.com offered to refund my money and said that I should also send in a report because this was exceptional.
I am really helpless to report the guy who was rude, blocked my car rental and even took my possessions from me.
They can always say we should read the small print. Since rentalcar.com indicated I didn’t need to print anything and, by phone, that they could have solved this by an email exchange, I am sure this is not only an issue of me not reading the small print.
I encourage everyone with a similar story to report it to the police. Google action fraud and you will find the page.
