I have the lifetime 10Tb. I'm happy with this. Only the disconnection and dismount of the drive on my computer from time to time is not so nice. The Up and download speed is faster than Onedrive.

Deactivated accounts without warning

I opened 4 different ice drive accounts using 4 different e-mail addresses. I used the different accounts for different genre's of my photography. After using the account for storage for a few months, they deactivated my accounts with no warning. I wouldn't go anywhere near this website.

Got Icedrive to store a mix of personal and work files, and it’s been quite convenient so far. I don’t have to worry about space on my laptop anymore. Sharing files with friends or colleagues is easy, and the app itself feels clean and easy to use.

I switched to Icedrive mainly for privacy reasons and it’s been a really good experience so far. The UI feels modern and smooth, which makes it easy to use daily. Speeds are generally solid, and even when uploads need a quick retry occasionally, it’s been reliable overall.

Critical data loss due to notification system failure - No support response

I lost 85GB of data because Icedrive’s notification system sent contradictory warnings (1/5 followed by 1/3 alerts), making it impossible to determine the actual deadline. I have provided full PDF evidence of these system errors, but support has gone silent. For a company that claims 'Privacy is their Passion,' their lack of data integrity and professional support is alarming. I am currently preparing a formal escalation to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) regarding this failure in transparent data handling.

UPDATE (April 16, 2026): I appreciate the honesty in admitting that your notifications weren't clear. But let’s be direct: receiving a 1/5 warning and then having the system jump to a completely different logic without finishing the sequence is a critical communication failure. This isn't just "user confusion", it’s a system error that left me flying blind.

As a professional who trusted your platform, I have to ask... How am I supposed to take the right action if the rules change mid-stream?

I welcome your offer to take another look at my case. Losing 85GB due to a messaging design is unacceptable, but I’m confident that a company that values privacy and integrity as much as you do will find a way to make this right. I look forward to your update.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience, we understand how frustrating it can be to lose access to your account.

From our records, the notifications you received were part of two separate stages in the account lifecycle, which may have caused confusion:

The “1/5” notifications relate to failed subscription payments, warning that the account will be downgraded to a free plan.
The “1/3” notifications occur after downgrade, when the account exceeds the free storage limit and is at risk of data removal.

This is also after the multiple retries by the payment processor (Stripe).

In total, this process includes multiple notifications over an extended period, providing over a month to take action. That said, we recognise that the distinction between these notification types may not have been clear enough, and we will review how these messages are presented to avoid any ambiguity.

We’re also happy to take another look at your case specifically to confirm everything behaved as expected.

I am extremely disappointed with…

I am extremely disappointed with Icedrive.
I own two lifetime plans (10TB and 5TB), which makes this situation even more frustrating. Despite being a long-term paying customer, the service is far from reliable.
The main issues:
WebDAV simply does not work properly for uploads. This is a critical feature for advanced users, and support has clearly stated they “cannot do anything about it,” which is unacceptable.
The Windows 11 Pro app constantly fails during uploads, showing multiple random errors.
Uploads are extremely slow and unstable, even with a high-quality internet connection.
Support keeps asking for screenshots repeatedly, even after I have already provided them multiple times. It feels like they are just delaying instead of solving the issue.
I am not a beginner user — I have years of experience working in IT. I have tested everything on my side, and the problem is clearly with their service.
It is very concerning that a company selling lifetime storage plans cannot provide stable upload functionality or proper technical support.
At this point, I cannot recommend Icedrive to anyone who needs reliability, especially professionals.

We're sorry you're experiencing issues.

Regarding WebDAV - It is an outdated, insecure protocol and we have never really recommended it's use. We only included it due to demand from power users. Infact, all of our negative reviews in some shape or form reference WebDAV, which strengthens our decision to eventually sunset supporting it.

Regarding the Windows app - Uploads should theoretically be very fast and stable. You may be facing issues with the caching system which is very "explorer controlled".

We are very aware of the caveats on the virtual drive + explorer. You can bypass the explorer caching by using the context menu (Right click -> upload to icedrive).

Though, this isn't very clear or obvious to most users - We will add a further "Upload" feature in the app to directly upload and bypass explorer in the near future!

Borderline usable

The upload and download speeds are awful. The only access is through the icedrive app, no webdav, no nothing, only the shitty slow app.
The capacity is there and the price is good but the access is terrible.

Don't expect this to be a usable daily cloud storage, it is only suitable for rarely accessed backups.

Thanks for your feedback - we understand how frustrating slow uploads can be.

In most cases, this isn’t actually the Icedrive app itself, but how Windows Explorer handles virtual drives. Our app uses a virtual drive, and Explorer introduces its own caching and file-handling behaviour, which can sometimes cause uploads to appear slow or inconsistent.

To bypass this entirely, you can use the built-in direct upload option:
Right-click your file → “Upload to Icedrive”

This sends the file straight to our servers without going through Explorer’s caching layer, and you should see much faster and more stable performance.

We agree this isn’t very obvious right now, and we’re already working on adding a clearer, dedicated “Upload” feature inside the app to make this process more straightforward.

I joined Icedrive 2+ years ago and have…

I joined IceDrive 2+ years ago and have remained a customer, both with work and personal accounts ever since. The interface is simple and easy to use and is not arranged with option tabs in every which corner. The layout is easy to navigate. IceDrive has been affordable for me and the service, overall, is entirely sufficient; the login and logout process is quick and the vast majority of times, or reliably, the account page loads fast. The search feature goes across the entire file system into subfolders and entire folders can be down or uploaded, as opposed to having to work a folder tediously one file at a time. Recently, I experienced an account access problem and IceDrive responded quickly and helped resolve the matter.

Nearly tripled their prices, not happy

I love the product and been with them for 3 years now, however they nearly tripled their prices from 2025 to 2026. I really want to side with the underdog but I feel they are pushing it. Will cancel my subscription and look for something else .
