If I could give them minus stars I would. I thought I was dealing directly with the hotel because of the interface of their website. When I saw the booking fees of nearly €150 I cancelled - within 2 m... See more

Please don't get a booking on this…
Please don't get a booking on this website if you don't want to be like me. I book a hotel stay for 2 nights and after I checked out there is a lot of hidden fees. I cancelled the booking because it was too expensive, and I cannot get a refund. My money is gone already. This is a scam website. Please don't book on this one so that they will go bankrupt and cannot operate anymore.
To avoid !!!
To avoid !!!
I thought I made a reservation on the hotel's direct site. Unfortunately this was not the case, I was on GESTRESERVATIONS. The advertised price (117 euros) was not the same as the price debited when the reservation was confirmed.
Around €57 in taxes were (very) discreetly added!
A disgrace on a price of €117, run away from this site!
I have had the same experience booked…
I have had the same experience booked two nights in the Lake District, got a good price, was paying by apple pay and then the additional £250 for tax was added.
I declined the payment with my bank, who are now looking into it.
In the meantime, I spent over 4 hours trying to contact getaroom to no avail. Have now sent an email with a reply saying it will be 7 days. Please don’t make the same mistake, they may be appearing to be the most competitive but how can they be when they stick hundreds of £s of tax on your billl, how is that competitive!
I await there reply!
Trying to reach customer care for a…
Trying to reach customer care for a refund of $899. Cannot get through the prompts to speak with anyone. Thought I was booking directly but apparently I wasn’t. Had to cancel 6 weeks ago due to sickness and could really use the money.
Fraud I booked a room for 155,00 euro…
Fraud I booked a room for 155,00 euro but got charged for 231,34 on my credit card. I will go to my credit card department to twist this as this is fraud, I have a screenshot of the 155 euro
We thought we booked 2 night at 153…
We thought we booked 2 night at 153 euro at night and suddenly an additional fee appeared 143 euros
Couldn’t cancel though we never finally approved
Website mirrors the hotels website
Can’t get hold of 24/hr service no response what so ever
Stay clear it’s fraud and false advertising
Its a scam!!!
Its a scam!!!
They dont make it clear they charge almost 200usd for service, you only get to know it after you pay. Its shameful that the company doesnt make it clear as a strategy. They are strategically not honest. I want my money back
SCAM company … do not use!!
I too was sucked into thinking I was booking direct with Sofitel but like others it appears Getaroom also ‘spoofed’ their website. I only realised as I had mistakenly booked the wrong date and tried to change it (less than 2 mins after my booking). By then Getaroom had then charged me for the room in dollars (room was advertised in GBP) and charged me the equivalent of over £100 in hidden fees not advertised anywhere. I managed to find an email address for customer services at the parent company as the contact numbers on my booking were both unobtainable. They won’t amend my booking, apparently as it’s non refundable (not advertised when I made my booking) nor will they explain where I was told about the hidden charges or payment being made in dollars. Sent another email to customer services before I a going to raise the issue of overcharges with my credit card provider. I feel conned but can’t understand how this company is allowed to trade how it does!
Fraudulent
Was about to make a reservation thinking it was on the hotels website, then when the credit card was loading it charged over 150€ more, so I cancelled and refused the payment. Quit the website. Several minutes later I got an email saying reservation successfull and money charged?!?
I see I am not the only one in this cass
Like so many others I made an honest mistake…
Like so many others I made an honest mistake thinking I was booking direct with an IHG hotel. I paid £312 for a booking 17 days away then realised the hotel was not in London but the USA (there are two Holiday Inns in Walton). I quickly cancelled and they confirmed but only then did I realise I was dealing with getaroom.com. They confirmed my cancellation by email but charged me the whole amount - so no refund.
****Update : I emailed customer services and -to my surprise - they were quick to respond and were courteous. I received a full refund which was paid into my account today 6 days after my cancellation. So, in my case they accepted my reason for cancelling and put it right. I only hope they do the same for others. Thank you Shahana and Aman.
Ripoff
We decided to book a room through this site, the whole time thinking it was the hotel's site. It was significantly less than the price quoted at the counter of the hotel. In the end, I received a notification from my bank that I had been charged over $100.00, for charges and fees, above the price quoted on the site! I will NEVER use this again! Buyer beware... I learned my lesson.
My wife mistakenly made a reservation…
My wife mistakenly made a reservation with them thinking she was on the actual hotels web site. The total cost of the reservation was $189.00 until my wife confirmed the reservation then It magically changed to $284.00 for one night. I say magically because the additional fees were not disclosed until after she confirmed the reservation. We called them five minutes after making the reservation to cancel the reservation only to find out that there was a $209.00 cancellation fee. The lady who answered the phone was not helpful, acted like she could not hear us and asked the same questions multiple times. She then proceeded to put us on hold acting like she was speaking with a supervisor. Horrible company, bad business practices. Avoid at all costs. Running a business should not be that hard, provided a quality service and treat your customers right and you will get repeat business. Don’t take advantage of them just because you can. Eventually word will get around. I guess that is why there was a class action lawsuit.
Absolute scam
Absolute scam. Thought I was on official hotel page. They have conned me £450 when I didn’t even click confirm a booking. Money pending from my account. Emailed and said 7 days to respond.
No uk call number
No refund stated on email.
I didn’t even blooming book it, so why have I been charged.
Will dispute with my bank scandalous.
Never again
I booked a room via this website and 70 euro extra tax was calculator after approving the reservation. And now it turns out the hotel doesn’t rent out rooms via this website. I cancelled the reservation but the money hasn’t been booked back on my creditcard yet.
Straight-up fraud
Straight-up fraud. Thought we were booking direct. Currency changed to USD (was in THB) and a bunch of additional taxes added after approving payment. Ended up being AUD$2,000 more than it was orginally advertised as. If customer service would like to get in touch with us, we will adjust this review accordingly.
Scam website
Attempting to book a hotel room through which I was led to believe it was direct to hotel. I was quoted $343 for 2 nights. After entering my credit card info it jumped to $725! After they’d taken the money. Tried to cancel and stated $400 in fees! Avoid at all costs. Dodgy company
Booked a room
Booked a room, went to cancel it within less than 4 hours and they would not give me a refund. Our plans changed, I understand if I would have waited but they didn't budge. I even called the hotel, they said they did not receive the deposit yet. Total scam!
Dishonest website
the 26/01/2025 I booked 3 rooms on getaroom.com, the price was €176,25 on their website. When the pop-up window of my bank appeared, I realised I paid €287,97 so €111,72 extra for supposed services fees and too late to cancel payment. I directly asked the refund of this stolen money but they are playing with their cancellation policy and do not respond. I ask the full refund of €287,97 for dishonest practices.
I also thought I was booking directly…
I also thought I was booking directly through hotel! Ihave been struggling to get ahold of this company to change reservation to 2 nights instead of 3, since a third party cannot be changed through hotel. Please respond to this feedback and let me know, how on earth, to change this reservation ASAP! No confirmation email.
I am fuming I like everyone else…
I am fuming I like everyone else thought I was booking directly with the hotel and then get lumbered with extortionate fees in USD when I was quoted in GBP. Terrible business!
