"We told them that my brother had extra…

"We told them that my brother had extra needs and asked them to look out for him in class. When the professor asked everyone where they were from, he eventually got to my brother. My brother said he was from London, and the professor replied, 'I mean where do you live, you idiot.' Then he said, 'London is why he can't speak English.' My brother got upset and left the room, but the professor kept following him and making him more upset, so my brother shouted, 'Leave him alone!' The head of the department saw this and kicked the professor out."

Would give 0 if possible do not do Level 3 Technical Theatre!!!

Would give 0 if possible. From day one I was isolated, picked on by tutors and neglected. Was given the worst roles on group projects and told "maybe next year". Tutors misgendered me repeatedly and actively slagged me off to other students behind my back. Offered me no support for my MH even when it impacted my education instead telling me off. They are abelist to me and other students. If you don't have an EHCP you won't get support. If you raise a complaint you'll be told you're wrong. If you talk about how the course is hurting your mental health you'll be told you're slandering the teachers. Some teachers will look through your phone to see if you've said bad things about the course. Several times I went in to this college and the lesson was just playing Mario Kart. I'm here to learn not for games. If I'd ask for help because I didn't understand something the tutor would yell at me to pay attention. Would side with my bullies who would set me up to be told off and refuse to listen to proof or investigate the situation. Horror college. Do not do the Level 3 Technical Theatre course under any circumstances!!!!

Let down by poor communication

I had seen a course that was free to study, as part of the on boarding process you needed to complete a web form. So the first time I did this (August/September 2025), I got an auto reply within in minutes of completing the web form. I thought "wow that's good". then I never heard anything back, not that day, week or month. Fast Forward it is now the Middle of November and out of the blue got an e-mail, so I registered my interest again. This time there was a reply, but it was very short notice... The e-mail hit my mailbox on Wednesday for a session the following day. That is way to short notice. But, there was an option for the following Monday. Chose that one. I also followed up with a phone call as I was not 100% clear on whether it was like a teams/zoom or other virtual or an in person. Confirmed it was a virtual and I would receive an e-mail before the event on Monday at 1630. It was Friday. I was quite busy with stuff over the weekend, checked Monday morning still no e-mail. Had to do stuff like shopping and see an engineer about something broken in the house, checked again at 1600. Not in junk. I know the e-mail is working as I tested several times between Friday and 1600 Monday. Tried called the only number that I have which is 0191-490-0300. An auto attendant answers, but then you have no options other than than to wait listening to hold. Eventually the call just get dropped. Eventually at 1629 a person answers. They are the sort of person if a nuclear missile was heading for them with certain death, everything would be fine, at little of that is fine, but at that level, I just want factual solve my problem. They kindly put be though to "Chelsea" but Chelsea did not answer. AT THIS POINT I HAVE LOST INTEREST.

I am your customer, even if the course is free to me, you are getting government funding for it or from industry. If you can not be bothered to get the simple process of onboarding nailed down and professional looking, what confidence you gateshead college think I the customer have in your ability to other things like exams and certification or issues arising later. I hope gateshead college will look at this review and resolve these customer service issues. young students studying there as there first exposure to FE might think that is acceptable, it is not. You are customer you have a right to expect more.

Gateshead college joiney

My son attended lvl 1 and lvl 2 joinery and carpentry. They advertised on the Gateshead college website placements and apprenticeships with leading employers in the industry. There was absolutely zero real effort made to make this happen, just empty promises. Not only that, they finished his course before the easter break by simply telling him the day he finished for the holidays, that he doesn't need to go in anymore as he had done everything. Would allowing him and others to attend college until the official end of year, to practice their skills, be a better teaching approach? Also lvl 3 carpentry doesn't even exist at Gateshead college.
An absolute waste of time. My son has now left college with no apprenticeship or even basic work experience. Avoid!

Bullied For Being Disabled

I went to Gateshead college to study for a music production degree a couple of years ago. The course leader at the time bullied me due to the fact that I am disabled and that I also cared for my late dad. I raised a number of complaints at the college and nothing was done this was a total waste of almost ten grand. These University Centres need regulating as they are a joke and not a fully one at that. I recently contacted them to try to find out what my marks had been for my modules as I passed quite a few but not all and I have been completely ignored. This is legal theft and it needs stopped.

The whole college is a mess

The whole college is a mess, from facilities, to materials used, to the incompetent staff. I returned for the second year in a row to this college for my level 3, evening course. Fortunately, I had a new job in the industry in which I was training, which involved working away. I couldn’t choose not to work away, but a college tutor and the actual course leader told me if I don’t stop working from home I would be kicked off the course. I told them I don’t get to choose where I work and their words were “well it sounds like you got a difficult decision to make, either get a different job or leave the course”. The whole point of the course was to supplement and progress my career, I had to quit the job I loved, and get a different one in a completely different industry, just to finish the course, so I could get a job in the industry.

The morons at this college have no real world knowledge, all they care about is getting their little ofsted green tick for attendance. If I was skiving, or too thick to pass I’d understand, but even when I never attended, I was still getting better results than 95% of the class. Unfortunately no other college in the north east provided the course so I had no other choice than to attend Gateshead. If you can go somewhere else DO IT, avoid this college at all costs.

These nosy little perves are…

These nosy little perves are following everyone with the security cameras while they walk past, down the public street. Mind your own business! If i'm staring inyou movie then i want paying. . You ever heard of privacy? You don't own the public street! They obviously think they own everything and everyone around that area. Should I start filling all your staff? No, so then don't do it with everyone else. This was a fe nights ago when I was staying in the hotel near by and went to mcDonalds up the road.

AVOID THIS COLLEGE

Absolute disgrace from the hairdressers department. My daughter suffers from anxiety, managed to come out of her shell and settle in only to be met with 4, yes FOUR bereavements during her lvl 2 year, caught up on all her work, got to the end of it not being offered a lvl 3 place, dangled about and then told to come back up to the college for a face to face meeting to embarrass her by denying her the lvl 3 which could have been handled over the phone or via email. Shocking behaviour from them overall and to belittle someone who has been through so much this past year! They blamed her attendance! Im sorry but should we ask people to ‘not just die’ so my daughter can get her ‘bum on a seat’ to please their numbers so ofstead hand them their funding… disgrace of a college, lecturers have no tact, no respect, and no integrity. Shameful. Would not advise anybody to study there.

Gateshead college chavland

Gateshead college allows prevalent bullying and discrimination of disabled students, staff members don't act quick enough to address discrimination related to gender, religious affiliation.

Andrew Doherty is only concerned with numbers not students themselves, Joanna mills lecturer for the information technology courses doesn't care about the students welfare enough to address the core issues that are relating to the level 1 computing courses which is prevalent bullying reminiscent of Adolf Hitler.

Tracksuit bottom wearing chavs that are on adult social care courses, level 1 information technology courses, students who leave school with no qualifications pretty much screwed from the first year of their studies unless issues relating to discrimination from other chavs is addressed.

Gateshead College health and safety violation

Gateshead College Baltic campus incidence arises involving disabled students with autism Gateshead college doesn't act fast enough in time to resolve the problem until there's a other case of assault between them on the level 1 ICT course ran by Andrew Doherty; Andrew Doherty tell his students to cheat the fire health and safety online questionnaire by giving them the correct answers by the start of September.

The only thing Andrew Doherty is concerned with is Numbers not students future educational success, mental welfare while his students do their studies.
