I moved to France 16yrs ago
I moved to France 16yrs ago. Bought my home. Without credit. Completely renovated Without credit. Took out all insurance policy with this bank. Work and paid french takes. Every single penny I have i entrusted with this bank. But as soon as you retire you are frozen out. They struggle to respond to your request. Until you inquire about making a official complaint. Then they open a dialogue with you. My advice to anyone who is nearing retirement particularly if your a expat. This bank is not for you !!!!
I am an English man living in France
I am an English man living in France, I have had a Credit Agricole account for a number of years.i wanted to give a review of my personal banker 'Sam Hodgon' who works out of the Normandy area. Nothing is too much trouble, he is always on hand for sound and detailed advice, helpful and professional; a credit to Credit Agricol. Thank you.

Why CA is not a modern bank suitable for the 21st Century
We have been customers of CA @ 79110 Chef-Boutonne for many years. Recently I have had my Mastercard gold card (debit) blocked whilst on holiday in France, not a problem if I am accompanied since my wife has another gold card. However, I am 80% disabled and use my camping car plus "recumbent couché" to explore Europe on my own (my wife has no interest in epic cycling trips). Examples include Route St Jacques aller/retour March 2025 (1600km on vélo) & following the Loire from Mont Gerbier de Jonc to St Nazaire aller/retour April 2026 (1977km on vélo). The problem with Mastercard appears that you only get an unknown number call you (I do not acknowledge unknown numbers to combat telesales and fraud), no secure messaging through bank account linked to card, no SMS and no emails. That was first issue. Then last week, my accounts were blocked from transferring funds to our new bank (that uses secure messaging/SMS/emails & phone calls to inform customers of card/account issues), then moving funds from our Livret A accounts to our current account. We are fortunate to have a good pension, with little inclination to remain with a bank with outdated banking practices. So, our account manager meeting (that we waited a week for) will be tying up loose ends before our money is moved on a permanent basis to our new bank.

This is such a dreadful bank for…
This is such a dreadful bank for expatriates, especially US expatriates. Though banking with them (not for much longer at this rate) for over 20 years I have been trying to get them to accept that I am a french resident and have been for 5 years. They refuse to accept it despite my having given them copies of numbers, resident cards, french tax numbers etc. And they never explain why. This is the tip of the iceberg in terms of problems with them. Avoid banking with them if you value the love of this country you thought you had.
Exchange rate horrible
Exchange rate horrible! €200 = $254. Gentleman who worked there spoke zero English, not even to point to which machine on the wall was the ATM (not all were ATM).

I was assigned Russell Wakefield as my contact with Britline. I can only say that a lot of other companies could learn a lot from Britline with there customer service. Russell has been amazing/ helpful /professional and guided me through every issue that I had. I would have no hesitation in recommeding this company and Russell has taken so much worry and stress off me and kept me safe! Thanks Russell I am sure we will talk again soon ha!!
Clunky website and useless chat line
Clunky website and useless chat line. Every part of the online system seems designed to trip you up or fail.
It's possible to have better service in the branch depending on the staff on duty. In my branch it can range from good to terrible.
I wouldn't recommend this bank.

Had a visit today from Lee O'Callaghan from Sourdeval branch. He called to check my insurance details were correct. What great personal service. Excellent local branch, Lee has been really helpful over the years. Well done Credit Agricole.

Credit agricole Italy
I have been their customer for many years now cause I have my mortgage with them. I have been trying to schedule an appointment with the local branch for some questions I have. They simply ignore your message and requests.
Very bad customer experience.
Probably they are lazy because they are allowed to.
account canceled without any warning
I reside in The Netherlands, but have a house in France. My CA account, which I had for 20 years, was canceled, without me knowing anything about it. I found out just in time, because my internet provider informed me he could not get his monthly payment. After endless telephone calls it appeared CA had sent me a registered letter, which however was returned to them, because at that moment I was not home! Nevertheless they sent me a check for the balance of my account, which I could not possibly cash, since in the Netherlands no bank accepts checks anymore since about 10 years. I had to get through the director of the bank to get the check revoked and my money transferred to my Dutch bank account. I had to present myself at the banks branch office to arrange this. The lady that did the final interview was completely incompetent, had not read my file, and was rigorously unapologetic. She constantly hid behind "the rules", and lied outright. After 10 times asking It appeared "the rules" had been changed in the sense that they needed a fresh look at my passport and my mail address. What exactly was precisely in the letter they sent me is still moot. Well good riddance. Never a French bank again.

"My funds was tied up, and I felt lost about how to get it back. "Kavellon LLC" assisted me and explained everything clearly. Thanks to their guidance, I was able to access my funds safely..
Noelie Philippe is amazing at the Chamonix office!
Noelie Philippe at the Chamonix office of Credit Agricole I feel so happy to acknowledge here how really excellent she is at what she does, always patient, and an absolute pleasure for us to be assisted by.
Noelie is exceptionally efficient, helpful keeping facts and explanations simple for us to understand with a complicated Home Insurance policy on multiple properties for both some renting and for us to live, residence secondaire.
Noelie phoned me, emailed me, and also, did an online meeting just to help me remotely activate our home insurance, ready for our Final Signing, as I am not great at doing things online; she never gave up with us helping us every single step of the way literally being with us at every moment with help, even to take a meeting the next day in her busy schedule; she is excellently bilingual as although I work with my French, technical French is not easy for me; the ability to converse difficult aspects in another language being English is hugely appreciated whilst my French improves each time.
She is a huge asset to the Chamonix Branch and I very much look forward to dealing with her as my Contact in the future having banked with Credit Agricole now for 25 years with my husband.
Thank you, in particular, Noelie Philippe, thank you again! Dawn & Ian Rowledge
We have had an account at the Sourdeval…
We have had an account at the Sourdeval branch 10 years+ with our account manager Lee O’Callaghan. We found Lee and the rest of the staff at the bank most accommodating (our French is not brilliant) and have never encountered any problems. It is good to have a branch to go to and speak to professionals along with telephone and emails. We have always been treated as valued customers.
I wish there was a zero star option!
Lies, deceit and a total lack of service from this bank, recently refusing to make a transfer to my French friend that banks 200mts from my bank! This has forced me to transfer the money back to the UK and then to make the transfer from there! For six weeks account has been blocked for transfers, without any explanation why. When I asked why, I was told there was nothing they could do or say, the decision was now with the regional headquarters in La Rochelle.
Seyhan Balci Credit Agricole
I have been dealing with Seyhan Balci at Credit Agricole Divonne Les Bains Branch for almost a year, he has been really helpful and nothing is too much trouble. He has gone out of his way to help me and my sister who can not use online banking with paying bills and printing out statements for us.
He speaks English which is a great help. He is always polite and accommodating. Great Customer Service.
Julie Bidaud was fantastic
Julie Bidaud was fantastic, extremley helpful and knowledgable. I had few issues to discuss (Im English) all resolved for me the sameday. It was so convenient to meet in my local branch Loulay. Her language skills were brilliant, she is a credit to the company. Keep up the good work Julie. Thank you
Lodz Credit Agricole, The most horrible bank ever!
Lodz, Credit Agricole - I requested one more bank card just in case. They said I can have as many as I like. Immediately, my card was blocked, and I had no card till the new card arrived! You can not have two cards for an account! I go into the bank, but no one speaks English or any other language except Polish. At least seven employees, yet no one speaks English, French, Spanish, etc. I have tried four languages. No one can communicate. How were they qualified? We are communicating by using body language and a translator program! Unforgettable experience! The customer agent took out the phone from my hand and started to change settings in the CA application of my phone. I have seen that certain details have changed. I have applied for a credit card (my salary is in the top 1%). They said it is being held for foreigners. After a year, just fill up the form, submit every paper again, and ask your employer to issue the same papers. No way. A guy calls his tone of voice as if he were speaking with a murderer, and he would be the prosecutor. The bank blocks my card every time I purchase food at the local Zabka! This is happening daily. What is suspicious to them? Purchasing a sandwich should raise an eyebrow? Upon calling them, despite successful verification last time, the agent was asking for ID numbers. I did provide, however, they were asking for something else, perhaps a Passport, I would give, but I have to call again as the process is unsuccessful, and I can not give them the numbers of my ID again as the verification has failed, I have to call them again! Congratulations! DO NOT RELY ON THIS BANK!
update: it turned out that they automatically block my card if I purchase a video on youtube. They said the "program" blocks that, as it happens sure. Great.
