My situation occurred due to the pricing. ABS advertised my book at a low price but I was charged almost twice the price. My initial reaction was anger that I had been scammed and told them so. I was firmly reminded by an understanding staff member of ABS they were not scammers and offered me a refund. That jolted (and deserving so) me and reminded me that I was dealing with a human and I should treat them as I would expect to be treated. My different charge was due to currency exchange which hadn't shown at the time of my purchase. ABS staff were very understanding and polite (which I should have been also) and were passing my situation to their technical department. This was a better result than my initial action of hastily sharing my anger. 10/10 to ABS for having good staff.

Dodgy company subscribes you to monthly payments without you knowing
I bought an audiobook and unsuspectingly was subscribed to a monthly subscription. This was not at all made clear to me and I could not find a subscription on my account details until after I contacted Audiobookstore and asked to cancel my subscription. Dodgy company. Won't buy books from them again!

VERY Hard to Unsubscribe
All I wanted to listen to was one book. I couldn’t find it anywhere else so I purchased what I thought was a one time payment of $9.95. Apparently I signed up for their flex pass option and was charged $9.95 per month. After the second month, when I noticed the charge, I got in touch with them via their chat feature because I couldn’t figure out how to actually cancel my membership through the app. It’s not actually a chat – though it looks like one. You send in your comment and they get back to you through the app many hours and maybe possibly several days later so you have to keep checking in. I don’t own a computer so constantly checking in to make sure my account was canceled was time consuming. I was very explicit that I wanted to cancel, but then I got another charge and I was told how to cancel. I explained that I couldn’t do that without a computer and they continued to charge me. it was only when I threatened to do a chargeback that they let me know they had canceled my account even though my flex pass payments are nonrefundable. So I essentially paid $40 for one book that I’m actually too angry to listen to. That’s my problem though. This seems like a scam to me though they denied it of course. A shame since it is an American company.

Please be aware that this company will store your credit card if you purchase ANYTHING from them and you will not be able to remove it yourself. According to Tarah at customer support: "We first would like to address your reference to "unethical processes" and clarify this is not accurate. When you purchased, you voluntarily provided card information to be stored on your account as you agreed to the terms and conditions of the FlexPass program." Really? I thought I purchased an audiobook and only was aware about this practice of signing people up for a Flexpass program from the dismal reviews I read in the app store about your app/company and checked my account and lo and behold, I had an account.
This is a bad company- I suggest you find someplace else to purchase audio books.
Buyer beware!!!
I like all these other reviewers bought a book online only to realise I was now a subscriber!!! Lucky I realised after the 1st month was taken and quickly cancelled it, very misleading, I didn’t receive any correspondence either that I had signed up.

Worst audio book company out there
I like audio books. But I will never buy one from this dishonest company again. After purchasing, you are apparently (without your knowledge?) signed up for a monthly program which charges your credit card $11.95 per month for nothing. I emailed them 4 or 5 times within a week and have received NO RESPONSE even though they claim to respond in 24 to 28 hours or less. Buyer beware. Worst of the worst, in my opinion. Update: There were no messages from this company in my spam or junk folders. I stand by my review.

Stop the Charging!!!
My experience is another company signing me up and I did not realize I was signing up for life. After I received charges I did not expect, I tried to cancel. The charges kept coming even though My account shows inactive. The customer service is awful. I tried to call... no response.... Chat --- no response -- I did get an email response but no resolution. I tried to erase my credit card info from the site but it wont let me... My next step is to cancel the card and go through all that becuse I can't stop what I consider to be a fraudelent company from stealling 9.95 from me each month.

Suddenly I'm a subscriber..?
I'm kind of a cheapskate so I always make sure I don't get into any kind of unwanted subscription. On this thing, I bought a book, but didn't notice I was suddenly a subscriber unntil it showed on my bank transaction details. No idea if it's in "small letters" or what, but it sure is annoying. And it might be my own fault, but seems people here has written the same thing for years, so a serious business would change the way it's written
Opt-out subscriptions issue
Was charged for a subscription for over a year that I hadn’t realised I’d signed up to due to having to ‘opt out’ when I bought something.
I complained, it was resolved and I was refunded. Whilst I don’t agree with ‘opt-out’ subscriptions, the customer service was good and it was handled fairly.
Very pleased with Audio Book Store
This easy to use website is very clear about the purchase options, the FAQs page answers many questions, and the huge variety of selections keeps me coming back.
After careful reading I signed up for the monthly plan, FlexPass, and have saved so much on my frequent purchases.
I love that I can transfer my downloads to my antique iPod as well as my iPad, and my audiobooks remain in my library for downloading any time.
Customer service is terrific and Tarah helped me with a book exchange via a same day email query!
The Audio Book Store is my favorite site for great listens, fast downloads, fair prices, and excellent customer service.
Monthly charge for nothing
I've purchased 1 book. Audio Book Strore offered me a subscription as it is cheaper that way. OK I accepted. I managed to read the book only in 2 months but still I was about even. Then I figured they charge me a monthly fee. I wrote to the customer support to cancel it. Next month another charge. I wrote again. Still not canceled. I had to register and login to the web page (as I used only the app before) and after half hour searh I managed to find a cancel button. Thats how I payed 1.5x for the book at the end :)
No answer for 2-3 weeks for the first time, and another 10$ for that for me.
Blocked them on my card but I'm pretty annoyed for the whole thing it's a big dissapointment they seemed more serious than this.
Clarify Your Payment Terms!!!
This is a wake up call for people responsible for this website. 41% of 129 people (that is 53 plus me makes 54 people) are not happy with the way you mislead someone to purchase your audio books. I had the same problem as so many: buying a book and at the same time, to me unknown, signing up for a monthly fee I was not willing to pay. Called your so called customer service twice and didn’t get call back. What kind of customer service is that anyway where you might get called back when someone finally gets around to it? That is worse than airlines providing a lousy cookie on an 8 hour flight.

I've found it easy to get and listen to audio books through Audiobookstore. The customer service has been fantastic and they have responded very quickly to my questions and requests. It's been a nice alternative to other audio book services.

Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Went to purchase a book and I unknowingly signed up for their membership for 10 dollars a month. I didn’t get an email that stated that’s what was happening. Zero receipts to explain why I was getting charged. When I reached out to customer service, the company just said we clearly identify this when you purchase. Another person on here had the same problem. I wasted 60 dollars and didn’t purchase a single book.
Impossible to cancel subscription
This is a scam subscription service. You sign up to get a single book but you end up getting charged each month (and you don't even get a credit or anything for this subscription...)
And, it's so hard to cancel. There is no cancellation option on their app (the only thing I have used so far). I eventually had to contact my credit card company. Please don't put yourself through the hassle.
EDIT: I wouldn't trust the % of positive reviews on here. They try very hard to get negative reviews removed

the montly membership and stuff I am not a fan of but the books have been good, and following them was like I discovered a hidden gem. More of a personal touch, then the big publishers etc. I like the coloring scheme on the website, the author selection, featured section has never failed me os far. Compared to Amazon and such, the clients seem to be more engaged (they had to find this in the first place), so the best seller section is more advanced and interesting to me. 😗😗
I don't feel dumbed down while browsing this, at least.

I recently bought several audiobooks from AudiobookSTORE.com, and the experience has been terrific. I like the elegant simplicity of the website, the intelligent layout, the ease of ordering, the reasonable prices, and downloads that are fast and work perfectly in my ancient iPod Classic. I had the occasion to ask for a return or credit for one book, and the site's customer service staff speedily and courteously credited my account for the purchase price. This was good business practice 101—make the customer happy, and it worked. I am happy. AudiobookSTORE.com is my preferred site for audiobooks, and I will always go there first when shopping for audiobooks.
