Tricked me into buying from them when I had no such intentions

While searching for flights on Kayak.com, I clicked on the one that fit my schedule pretty well. Transaction was done on the Kayak website, if I remember correctly -- in any case, there was nothing suspicious about it -- and when I completed my booking, voilà! I got an email from this place called Vayama, which I had never heard of. I thought that I was booking directly from the airline website, so I was seriously offended.

When I checked the price directly at the airline's website, I also realized that I had paid around $20 more, by booking with Vayama. Unacceptable.

I'm a frequent traveler (Star Alliance Silver) so I know how much effort it can take to cancel a plane ticket, so I decided to stick with it. I can't tell you how nervous I was that Vayama might just disappear on me with my ticket, as it is a place I have never heard of.

The day before my travel, I never got the check-in reminder from the airline, and when I finally called the airline to check in, there were only middle seats left. As someone who usually gets upgraded to business class, this was completely unacceptable. It turns out that even though I had entered my frequent flyer number on Vayama, the airline hadn't registered that. (Also I could have sworn that I chose a window seat when I booked my trips; what happened there?)

Reading through the reviews here, I see that my trip has gone better than most others who reviewed here, but nonetheless, you would do better by booking directly at the airline's website, or by using better-known travel agents, if you must use them.

There should be NO reason why you use Vayama.

Unacceptable service

I booked a flight for $1,320 with Vayama.
Three days afterwards I received an email stating that "Quality control has determined that your booking could not be processed at the fare that was originally quoted" and proposing me an increased fare. I thought my flight was booked and confirmed as per the confirmation message I got after the booking. While I'm a heavy traveler, this never happened to me before!
I complained about this and asked what was the deadline for my decision.
I got a justification about my complaint (the usual speech about the terms & conditions at the bottom), but no answer to my question.
I insisted about the deadline.
Finally I got an email informing me that my reservation had been automatically cancelled after 48h.
I guess I don't need to comment any further...

Horrible Scam

I missed my flight from Baltimore to Freetown. Even though Air France was willing to rebook it, Vayama refused and played games with us for almost three hours. We lost $2500, and my child did not get her dream trip to France and sierra leone. They refused to rebook or provide a refund. Horrible customer service and supervisors.

Unacceptable business practises beware of funds withheld

I attempted to book a flight through vayama and received the email blurb below on April 9th at 2:37pm.
"Thank you for choosing Vayama.com. We are currently processing your reservation. Once your payment has been authorized we will issue your ticket(s) and you will receive an "E-ticket Confirmation" email within one business day".

On April 9th at 7:59pm I recieved
"We recently received your online booking request. Unfortunately, the airline was unable to accept the fare that was offered earlier, therefore, your booking could not be processed. Per our terms and conditions on your Vayama Booking Confirmation, air fares and reservations are not guaranteed until tickets are issued. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused".

HERE'S THE PROBLEM: as with most transactions a check card authorization is placed against the purchasers account to ensure funds are available.
Today is April 11th 6:20pm I still have a $1,292.16 check card authorization against my account. Which means those funds are not available for me to purchase another ticket. With the volatility of ticket prices I need my funds released so that I can use them elsewhere.
The interesting part was when I rechecked the flight information to see how much the increase was it was only $9 bucks. Disgusted with vayama I purchased through their competitor and ultimately saved over $100 dollars in the process.
So when ARE you going to release the hold on my funds?
vayama you have lost yet another customer. l only wish I had read the stinky reviews prior to trying to book a flight.
Kindly release my funds NOW!

The worst travel service/customer service

I used Vayama to plan a trip I'd been saving up for for years. I was supposed to go to Seoul, Korea and Indonesia. I missed the first of 4 flights I booked with them and they did nothing to assist me. I had to cancel the entire trip because they wouldn't get me on another flight and/or let me keep the other three flights. To add insult to injury, I had to pay a $250 to cancel. I used another service to book my trip to Indonesia, but had to skip going to Seoul due to loss of time and money. Good customer service goes a long way and this is a prime example of a company being penny wise and pound foolish. My husband works for a travel company and we will make sure no one we know uses Vayama.

Horrible customer service! Don't use their site!

I'm writing to express my deep disappointment in Vayama's customer service in reference to Vayama Trip ID SHU5KZ. When our Lufthansa flights on 4/4/2014 were canceled, customer service representatives assured us that Vayama would handle the fights and work with Lufthansa. We were told that speaking directly with Lufthansa wouldn't help so we waited on Vayama. Vayama could only offer similar flights on Monday (3 days after our original departure date). We expressed our need to fly home earlier; we said we would be willing to fly into or out of airports within 2 hours of the original cities. We also offered to fly in groups of 2 instead of 4. Vayama was still incapable of resolving the issue and only offered the same flight home on Monday (4/7). After a very stressful 2 days during our vacation, we went to the airport to speak with Lufthansa directly. They resolved the issue within 15 minutes. We flew home Saturday on Air France and US Air. Vayama's incompetence is overwhelming. We will never be using Vayama again in the future.

Very bad in serving customer, has no clue how to run business or understand customer rights.

We booked tickets for my parents in 2013 September and paid full amount. the ticket covers period 2013 Nov China to Sydney and Sydney to china return 2014 March 28th to be exact.

Mid-February 2014, I received notification of airline cancelled flight and changed ticket to be different dates which requires them stay over night -13 hours instead of original 3 hours stop-over time.

We asked for more options and proved the 3-4 options which we found available through their website and the airline.
we got response 2days later. They gave us 3 options, which we chose 1 on the day we received the option.

Two weeks later, we were told the ticket was not available and we we're given 2 more choices, we chose one, a week later no response.
After that, we phoned and got passed around the phone call for about 15 minutes after that and we were told the options they gave us are waiting list instead of actual seats. And if we want to secure a seat, we needed to apply a change request and pay the 100 per ticket service fee apart from airline ticket changing fee.
Come on, it is airline standards to give priority to customer to the flight they want. And the change due to airline reason is free of charge- how could vayama possibly ask us to apply for changing flight when we did not want to change from the 1st place.

So, anyway, we received email saying the ticket is not available and gave us 2 more options on Friday - one week before the flight suppose to happen . We chose 1 option immediately , and again we have no more confirmation.

We gave up on the following Tuesday and asked friend who works in another airline who has possible connections in the airline we have tickets for- as it is too risky for us to contact airline directly by then- 3-4 days away from flight date.
We got seats secured within 2 hours and got ticket issued directly from the airline.

I then notified the agency that they do not have to do anything more about changing flight, but just need to receive the airline info sent to the them Tuesday already. They did not have to to re-issue the ticket, but I asked for anyway just in case.
And guess what, I received phone call @ 3am from an Indian employee which I struggle to follow his English but want to confirm the info. He said he will call back - I then emailed them 3:30am, since I was awaken by them then, the detailed e-ticket copy issued by the airline and the detailed email communication trail between me and the airline.
And guess what again, they called the 2nd day 7am, which is a day before our newly secured flight, they want to bloody confirm again - I said - did you actually understand the ticket info and email I sent to you. In the end, he finally read the ticket info - I do not think he understands he did not need to call me and just to annoy me again as he did not get extra info.

Today is the flight day - the friend told us it would take maximum a day to do such work and it proves the agency did nothing but being lazy and passed info around..

I did not really want to waste my time and energy with them - even not want comment anything. But I rally do not want people to experience the same thing as we did.

So get away from them as soon as you could.

Great low price and easy to book a flight.

I love this site. Nobody can beat their price, I think. Nowhere else to shop if I were you. See and compare for yourself. But never miss to visit VAYAMA.com. I'm glad I have found this site. It saved me a lot of money on my future travel.

Have Used Vayama Twice this month...

... the first experience was totally seamless and perfect. BRAVO VAYAMA!

The second experience had a (hopefully) little blip. My multi-destination premium economy flights were to be booked thru Air France, at least that's what it said as I was selecting my itinerary. But after the booking was processed, the last of my 4 flights came under Delta's flight number (even though it's an Air France flight). My problem with that is that I think that Air France gives priority to Air France clients. Therefore at this time I do not have an assigned seat for that leg. I certainly hope that does not mean that I will be stuck in coach, as I have paid the premium price to be in Premium Economy.

Nice people, but useless

Traveling from US to Japan, through Canada. Bought Ticket through Kayak. Took a day for confirmation, very scary after spending $7,000 for the family. I called about baggage policy since we are going on a bike trip. No info and told me to call airline. Airline changed flight and offered a horrible alternative. Vayama is unable to do anything. Vayama could request an alternative but it could take 2 days, and then another 2 days to confirm. Once confirmed Vayama could not help with seating. Told me to call airline.
So in other words, they get paid to do nothing but convey information. I will no longer go through Kayak or Vayama.

It couldn't be better

Vayama has a mixed review. I am one of those lucky ones and I am glad to be able to share my positive experience on Vayama.
I usually use Vayama for international tickets. I have always had a positive experience with Vayama but this last experience was so positive that I feel I need to share it with everyone who is looking to know vayama better.
I booked 4 tickets for my whole family from Bangkok to Barcelona. Four months later plans changed and we had to cancel the tickets. I called vayama. The representative was very polite and pleasant. The only time I was put on hold was when the representative looked for more information on my tickets. A few minutes later he came back on the line to tell me he would cancel my tickets but he would charge me $50 cancellation fee on each ticket. I paid $200 on cancellation fees for four tickets but got all my money back I paid for tickets. They refunded it back to my credit card just about a week after the phone call. I will be back vayama.

Don't do it!! -- no changes possible, terrible customer service, the worst!!!

I purchased 2 tickets to Japan on Vayama, trusted them because Kayak is easy to use, but Vayama is the worst. There is no one that you can speak with to make any changes, everything is done via e-mail and it take 2-3 DAYS to get any sort of reply. And the reply...they can't get find a flight!. Really, there is one showing on Kayak! No interaction, no effort on their part. and forget getting a refund or airline credit, not going to happen. .. I will never use them again!!!

The smoothest advance booking I have ever experienced

I was looking for the least expensive, non-stop round-trip ticket between Madrid and New York City for specific dates in August and I noticed an ad on the page for Vayama which said it could save me the trouble of going to each company/airline website separately in order to compare prices. The search was completed within seconds and within a few minutes, my reservation was confirmed. The Website is very user-friendly and there were no screw-ups as happened last year when I tried to book an advance reservation to Mumbai through Travelocity. I would definitely go through Vayama again.

Gets the job done with great pricing

I used Vayama awhile back to go to China and all worked out great. I am i=using them again to go down under and assume I will get the same results.

Great service, cheap prices!

I was able to book my flight quickly, and the price was even a little bit cheaper than the actual airline itself! I would definitely recommend Vayama!

I was afraid from the website then found out that i saved almost $200

I was afraid because i didn't know this website and because of the Negative reviews.
I said let me try and if something wrong happen I will call me Credit card company and tell them that this company steal my money.

I booked with them a trip from Denver CO to Cairo Egypt , The tickets was $4128 everywhere for 2 adults 1 Infant 1 child. I booked it from Vayama (Directed from SkyScanner.com) for $3980. after i booked i received email with their Trip ID and British Airway ID. I went BA website and found that the trip confirmed and then called BA customer service to double check. I went to my credit card account and found they charged me the correct amount no more no less.
Next day I received the Tickets # then i went again to BA website to check and i found the ticket numbers match, Really I was so happy and for sure ill book again. I think who have problem with them before because they wanted to change something or its their fault.

HORRIBLE experience – NEVER book through this travel "service" – unreliable, untrustworthy, ridiculous business practice.

Vayama is a red flag in the landscape of travel bookings and I strongly advise anyone to stay away from their business. Their call center agents are not qualified, give out misinformation, are unreliable in their promises to call back and ultimately, am losing my ticket entirely due to the wrong information received by Vayama employees.
I am a frequent traveler with 6-12 flights monthly, and experienced in booking and changing tickets. The experience described below is so unparalleled in its lack of customer service and qualification that I feel compelled to share it broadly as to warn other customers.

I booked a trip with them early in 2013, a flight from Germany to the US, and had to change the ticket shortly before the travel date because of a death in the family.
For my first attempt to change the ticket, I spent a good 3-4 hours on the phone with various agents who did not speak English well enough to communicate about the matter at hand.
I tried to change my ticket to a flexible date approximately 2 weeks after the initial date, and learned that Vayama did not have any tickets available (though the airline, Lufthansa, had plenty available on their and other travel sites) except for a price three times the original fare. After an excruciatingly painful process I was able to change the ticket to a different date. I specifically emphasized that I might need to change the ticket again because the travel dates may change again.
When calling back to change the ticket, I received contradicting information from call center agents. I was told the ticket could not be changed "due to the airline rules", which I had never been informed about. In nine separate calls, I spoke with various call center agents and supervisors, all of whom were unable to deliver any explanation or information to resolve the fact that their customer service representatives had given me wrong information about the possibility to change my flight.

Please do not ever use Vayama.

Good site to book multi-city travel with ease for a fair that is quite fair

Kayak, driven by Vayama is a good site for booking your international travel, specially if you are planning a multi city travel with stop overs. They offer quite a reasonable price and more choices of flights and airlines than any other site I have come across. Their customer service personnel are courteous, and the only downside is the time it takes to get to customer service for assistance in bookings. May be it was my first try with customer service so cannot say this is the case for sure. But as compared to several other sites that offer cheap travel fares and options, I would rate Kayak (Vayama) on top of everyone else.

Archaic support, it takes 24-48 hours to get a confirmation request processed

I should have known after placing the order and it took almost 24 hours to receive the tickets via email. Then I had to change my flight. It was booked with Iberia for a British Airways flight. The airlines could not change the ticket and said to call Vayama. Could not change online, Vayama website said to call US telephone number. First call hung up after 15 mins on hold. Second call, lady had heavy accent and could not find reservation even though I was pronouncing it phonetically (I am a native English speaker and pilot so I know how to do this clearly). After repeating it three times I changed to cities and names for letters and she found it and said "I had given it to her wrong". Upon doing that Vayama said they needed 24 hours to tell me the cost of the changes? What, really.
I waited for an email and it came after 1 and half days. Then I called to confirm changes and they said it was too late, had to do it with the airline as it was too close to flight time. In the end British got me taken care of. But I HIGHLY recommend not booking with Vayama. This is archaic to take 24 hours to calculate a cost or book a ticket.
